Bringing a crying baby on a Monday morning flight should be a federal crime, right?

I don’t think that the baby’s parents planned for the baby to cry. While extremely annoying to you, remember that there may be reasons the baby is crying; they may be sick and the change in cabin pressure might be bothering them. The parents are probably sleepless, embarrassed and taking the crying baby home with them so no escape. You get to leave without a crying baby. :) I always carry ear plugs with me; in case of crying babies or chatty people behind me. They make a difference! 😴

Word, D1. I was the Mom in the flight with a crying baby, and I was embarrassed and trying everything I could to comfort him in limited space. But at the same time I was thinking, “You lucky bastards, at least this ends for you once our plane lands. I’ll be up all night with him too when we get home!"

I’m a frequent work traveler but occasionally I also fly with my babies. I will directly challenge anyone that so much as gives me a look if I travel with my babies and they cry. So quit feeling like the airline/ general public that’s also flying owes anything to us frequent travelers just because we are frequent travelers

Yes off course. Everything in the world should definitely revolve around us consultants with an exaggerated sense of entitlement 🙄

likefunnysmart

KPMG1, some consultants’ egos are large enough for the whole world to revolve around them. 😁

No

Yes!!!! Also, everyone agreeing with this post is going to take heat, be called insensitive and selfish, and who knows what else 🤷🏻‍♀️

You’ll probably be called racist too...

While I agree with you it is extremely annoying, it is important to keep in mind that it is a baby and that is what they do. I save my outrage for people who listen to YouTube without headphones. these people should be hauled off to prison for a long sentence immediately.

And those that use speaker to dial into conference calls. Just why...

Sounds like there is at least 2 on your flight...

You need a first hand experience of taking care of your baby to gain some empathy for other babies. I forgive you OP for your ignorance

Apologies to anyone who was offended! Was just grumpy Monday morning me complaining, and clearly was mostly a joke (I think it’s annoying, but definitely do not actually believe it should be a federal crime) I actually do have two children and have experience taking them on the plane when they were babies. I guess i have just made an effort to take them during non-tiring hours (redeyes and early morning flights). I understand though that my efforts do not give me the right to vent to others who may not have had the luxury of choice. I guess part of it stemmed from me finally graduating to the other side, as my children are no longer babies! I commend people who are so understanding of crying babies on a plane. Clearly you guys are much more patient and understanding than me at least.

like

Absolutely OP. While we are at it, why not also add: 1. Everybody should only line up if their group is called and not crowd the gate. 2. Everybody should put one larger carryon in the overhead and a smaller one under the seat. 3. God forbid anyone tries to recline. 4. <Insert all other consultant traveling peeves here> /s - if you didn’t figure that out already.

Why are these consulting only? Everyone who travels at all should follow this

Wouldn’t this world be such an awesome place if we could all just exhibit some empathy for our surrounding community? It’s a baby. That is the only way it can communicate. Trust me, it’s harder for the parent knowing there are ignorant people on the plane who respond like this.

Buy headphones. Insert in ears.

No. I respect your right vent though

Shut up and get back to work

No. I would get rid of dogs on planes though

I’m a dog lover but absolutely agree!

So people shouldn’t be able to travel because they have kids? The whole world does not revolve around young single consultants with no kids. Just use noise cancelling 🎧.

As a father of 5, I empathize with parents of screaming kids. I also do whatever I can to avoid flying with mine on Monday mornings or Thursday evenings

like

As a mom who has flown alone (or with husband) with baby or toddler many times, I have a lot of sympathy. Also, now I appreciate how “relaxing” business travel is and the fact that I am not the one with a screaming child. But seriously, have a heart and buy some damn noise canceling headphones

EY-Parthenon 🐠, how many years does it typically take to go from director to senior director? I am interviewing for a role in M&A. I am a second year manager with around 12 years of experience (Industry and consulting combined). The recruiter is trying to bring me in as a director and I am trying to figure out if i can be brought in as a third year or fourth-year director. My approach depends on how many years it typically takes to go from director to senior director.

I work 8+ hour shifts in the office as we are an essential business where masks are required at all times. Has anyone else had the experience of wearing a good mask at work and getting excruciating headaches at work that last for a few hours after work? I've already had an isolation period so it's not Covid, but I'm thinking it might be the higher levels of carbon monoxide, as I've tried wearing a different mask and did not have the same problem.
