I know, I know, vax is a personal choice and all that, but this is why folks need to get vax’ed. the longer people hold out the more variants there will be, that’s how it works. Hope everybody is staying safe this tday.

IBM1, the report you cited is a point in time report for week 47. It’s not a cumulative number since the inception of COVID. To be clear the overwhelming majority of people who have had COVID were unvaccinated at the time. The overwhelming majority of those who died of COVID were unvaccinated.

So good news is we can't tell how contagious this is and if it can emerge as a dominant strain, we also don't know severity. Maybe it evades vaccines but is generally a very weak strain. Also since vaccine development has gotten as far as it has redeveloping won't take the year the initial vaccines did. Bad news is if it is severe enough then it is likely already too late if it's gotten out to HK. And, well, we're looking at a very rough 2022. Depending on your worldview this could be a dramatic overreaction from the UK who has a history of contempt against the continent of Africa too.

I just came back from the UK and got covid, double vaxxed and I’m sick as a dog going on day 6

Honestly being vaxxed doesn’t come up until people say they have covid so it’s hard to tell.

We are supposed to do a shoot in South Africa in mid-December. Now what.

I have a brief resume gap from near the beginning of covid but have been at a new employer for >1 year. I’ve been asked about said gap during in-house interviews, but it’s generally been cursory and I give the explanation agreed upon by former employer. Was pressed a bit harder recently by being asked “will x former employer confirm [the story]?” Is this in and of itself a bad sign? Are they trying to catch a lie?

How long to wait before letting a nanny go back to work after covid? Our nanny started feeling sick around 9 days ago. She tested positive 8 days ago. Her symptoms have been very mild (just a cough and a runny nose) and she’s been essentially symptom-free for the past 48 hours. However, I had her take a rapid test just now and she is still testing positive. My husband and I both work full time from home and it would be ideal to have her come to work tomorrow. WWYD?? Thanks fishes!

So my husband and I decided to go back to our original plan and starting to try for a baby next month. My daughter will be 18 months old and it’s been a struggle with work and her in general with covid and no daycare or outside help. I’m down to part time hours already with the intention of her hopefully being able to go to daycare in the summer or fall. I really want to complete my family but worry about not having help with two kids. Plus I dk how long it could take to get pregnant this time
