This is dedicated to all the broke college students (like me) and/or those living in a high cost of living area like San Francisco (like me). It’s quick, easy, tasty, and cheap.
I can’t take the credit for the Broke Boyz Rabokki. Chef Chris Cho developed this recipe at 8 years old when his little sister was hungry and there was nothing else in the house to eat.
Only 5 ingredients: Water, sugar, gochujang, shin ramen, rice cakes (tokpokki), and other optional toppings of your choice. Spicy, sweet, umami sauce coated ramen noodles and chewy rice cakes.
1. Boil 2 cups of water.
2. Stir in 4 tablespoons of gochujang. Add more if you want more spicy add less if you want less spicy.
3. Add 2 tablespoons sugar.
4. Add topokki. (Note soak topokki in cold water for 10 minutes before cooking). Simmer.
5. Add vegetable shin ramen packet.
6. Add a dash of shin ramen broth packet. Do not add a whole thing. Literally a pinch.
7. Once you feel topokki getting soft. Add ramen noodles.
8. When ramen noodles are cooked. Add optional toppings of choice: fish cakes, hard boiled eggs, veggies etc.
9. Remove from heat. Enjoy!
