If the client is requesting you by name, that is a win without even starting the work. If your leadership feels a more senior person is appropriate, than taking you off the project is the right move. Would you prefer leaders went ahead with booking you to projects you’re not well suited for?

I know that a ton of people eat hours, are directed to do so and so it can seem acceptable, but it’s very bad for business. Your personal suffering is a major symptom. Another symptom is your leaderships' inability to staff projects effectively and profitably. You work for idiots, they can’t see the forest for the trees. Get out.

Leadership has made a habit of putting me as a lead on projects I’m not suited for, I work 80 Hour weeks and have no weekends for several months just to stay ahead of client’s questions. I work hard to over deliver bc of my lack of expertise. That’s what I did before I rolled off the client. It was an uphill battle to prove myself for the past year. I was hoping for a break from that, But apparently client prefers hustle over expertise. Idk. They know I’ll bust my ass but I’m tired and now I feel like leadership doesn’t even have my back.

I don’t want you working 80hr weeks and would adjust the team to fix that. What do you want?

I want to help the client but want the senior person to act as an SME so he can stay chargeable, I can have someone to bounce ideas off of, we can both learn so we are more marketable for future staffing and give client the best of both resources

Are you billing the 80hrs?

No. Just 40. PM wouldn’t let me bill actuals last time so I’m guessing it’s the same. I’m cheaper than the senior person so PM saved money last time. We delivered the project “on time and under-budget” but not really though

Well, the 80 hours is the problem. Billing actual hours or refusing to work that much would raise it to the attention it needs. See other options?

Not at ACN. Honestly there isn’t a single project in the last three years where I haven’t worked an 80 Hour week for some period of time. If I’m lucky it’s only two to three times during the course of the project but other time it’s been 4 to 8 weeks solid.

I’m currently on the bench and had a senior colleague reach out to me about assisting with a work item. I volunteered to help (but I can’t charge my time). There was (to my knowledge) an entire team of individuals working on the project up until last week so it seemed to me that my help wasn’t really needed. Between the lack of flexibility (both personally and day to day), sterile environment, and millions of meetings a day I am going insane. (No complaint against my current project,team and technology... On my first all male project team (2 managers, and 1 junior resource). The Junior resource is 1 year my junior. I find that those 2 managers go through the junior consultant to give me updates. Can’t help but find it demeaning. Am I looking too much into it?

I just had my first annual performance review meeting with my manager this past Friday. She had nothing but good things to say about my work, effort etc. thus far. After that she indicated a raise of a little less than 3%. Is this something I can counter? Should companies be giving raises that are at least at the percentage of the inflation rate (Being ~ 6% this year)? I appreciate any feedback!
