I have a recruiter showing me a general overview of FTI Consulting saying that compensation would consist of base salary + monthly qualified billables + 10% to 20% annual bonus. Is this similar to A&M (% of billable hours)? I'm currently in TS but am looking for a boost in compensation, more than a public accounting firm can offer. What kind of $ are FTI seniors making in this market?

I'm currently working into RPA Presales, Solutioning (Solution Architect) and Delivery (Tech and people manager) at IBM.

Having made my way from a Java developer to Rpa developer and now into consulting, what would be the lead role for me next.

I have always been very resilient and can grasp any tech quickly as i already know Java, Dot Net, Python, RPA and SQL.

I’m considering a lateral offer in lit between a V10 and V50. The V10 has the brand value, but I got the impression that I would just be another cog in the machine there. The V50 is similarly well regarded in my specific practice area as the V10, and I do think if I want to try to make partner I should go to the V50. Does brand value particularly matter? I’m coming from a V50, and only considering government or staying at the firm.

Have a coworker who volunteers for work but never ends up doing it. At what point does it make sense to go to the partner to address this? We’re both midlevels, and I’m tired of having to put in even more time every weekend to pick up his slack. If this were a junior, I’d address it with them first, but this is unacceptable from a fifth/sixth year.

When is it time to leave?

10th year in a relatively specialized field and partnership prospects are fantastic. Problem is, I’m completely fried. I find the work boring. I’m constantly asked to do marketing work for which I receive no billable credit. Because of this, I feel like I’m working at least12 hours a day to bill 7. I work with folks in different time zones, so I’m either up till 3 or up at 3. I sometimes nap while my family has dinner so that I can stay up late working. Time to go?

What kind of car do you drive and how much did it cost? Obviously this depends on a lot of other factors like other expenses (mortgage, student loans, kids, etc.). I've been driving the same car since high school, a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. There isn't anything wrong with it, but I kind of want a car with the newer safety features like blind spot cameras and lane assist. I'm just curious how much other people are spending.

Need help from the Hivemind. I am a rising 4th year who has only been at my firm for a little over a year (after a few clerkships). I like my firm well enough, and the partners I work with like me a lot, but I’ve learned that Biglaw is not the life for me and want to get out ASAP. I’m applying to a Fed agency that I’m really excited about, but the application requires a reference from your current supervisor. I haven’t told the firm I’m thinking about leaving. How would you handle this?
