If you’re vaccinated, why do you care if you come in contact with those who aren’t? (Coming from a person who is vaccinated who doesn’t care about others personal health choices)
How does everyone feel about covid and traveling? Seeing uptrends in the upcoming months.
Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector. Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting. https://www.propublica.org/article/how-mckinsey-is-making-100-million-and-counting-advising-on-the-governments-bumbling-coronavirus-response
I am a customer consultant and I am now really stressed out due to covid, I want a change in my life trying to learn aws. Preparing for SAA-C02 i need some help with practice exam and also on a decision of which stream to proceed with now Devops or sysops. Any leads much appreciated.
Hi Desi Fam, I noticed a difference between the general consulting bowl vs desi bowl where almost everyone in the desi community is for the covid vaccination. What are some key reasons for the difference from the general US population where a large % are anti-vaxers. Thoughtful answers only (and not answers like we are smarter).
Lot of negatives from Covid. Am curious to poll this crowd on what we think the long term positives will be, both for consultants and society at large. Let’s generate some positive vibes.
I’ve been fully vaccinated since early this year (Pfizer), and tested positive for Covid-19 three days ago. I’m laid up in bed feeling terrible and quarantined so that my wife (who tested negative) and two kids don’t catch it from me. Remember: be safe. Don’t relax yet. The vaccines are wonderful, but we can still get it and pass it on.
This article is a good read in terms of how to handle the COVID-19 crisis: https://blog.shrm.org/blog/promoting-workplace-mental-health-in-the-age-of-covid-19
Got promoted to senior but did not get a raise to go with it. Firm keeping salaries flat this year due to COVID-19, but I was shocked when I found out promoted staff wouldn’t be getting a raise either. To me, this whole thing rings hollow because the firm has told us multiple times that they were projecting flat growth for the year when compared to last year (which was one of the best in firm history). So it pisses me off that they shot their mouth off about how great year last year was...cont
So I had a some friends who went to Cabo, and when they returned they all(7) took the covid test and came back positive. 5 days later, no one was showing any symptoms so they all went to another clinic and they took the test and they all tested negative. Don’t get me wrong, I wear a mask and take precautions, but when you hear stories like this, you wonder how much of these reported numbers are manipulated or incorrect.
Should I still go to Majorca next week given the terrible COVID sitch over there? I’m very hesitant and need to make a decision literally by tomorrow morning
Is it just my perception or is USCIS totally jammed and ignoring any processing times, service requests,... I have hard time to believe that Covid is the reason.
How easy is it to switch offices (from one city to another) at your firm? Signed an offer pre-covid for an office across the country and now really wishing I could stay in place. (Start date was pushed back so I haven’t moved yet.)
If you were fired / terminated by a prior employer, when searching for a new job, what would you say if the application / recruiter asks if you got fired or why you left the prior job? Will the reason pop up during background check? Would companies really give you a 2nd chance if you are being honest about the fact that you got fired? (Note: assuming pre-COVID)
Curious, how many of you have a work teammate or family member sick with COVID-19? (I have none so far, knock wood, but an acquaintance or two.)
Got a job offer amid covid-19 and company asking to join on receipt. My visa expires in next one month and passport in next 3 months. Should I join on receipt and take risk?
For those who exited from Audit, How would you compare your work hours compared to the Audit? Please provide your current role as well! I saw that in deals, the hours are much more random and schedules are much more tighter! I am also curious if it's temporary workload considering the amounts of deals post-COVID.
Can I disclose a public sector client if it's public knowledge to an interviewer? As in our contract was published and reported on, is it ok for me to say I work on it? Also the project is a covid project and pretty obvious to connect the dots if I describe my work. Been through 5 rounds with an investment bank without disclosing and have a final interview with an MD.
With the possibility of schools closing, does anyone have a recommendation for a classroom alternative? Either on-line, or a good home schooling program?
Interviewing for a director role and spoke with the headhunter. He said the role reports to a VP who is looking for a strategic thought partner. What do I need to showcase when I speak with this VP?
I am humbled and in a state of shock. My best friends father (who is a client) has spinal cancer and been given a very short time to live. No bullshit jokes on this please, just tell me what VA will give me the best DB.
Anyone else becoming less productive with continued WFH or struggling in some way with staying focused?
Deloitte ARAS vs. EY FAAS. Does anyone think there's any real difference between the two? It mind of seems like Deloitte's ARAS may involve more technical accounting (vs. like just prepping financial statements, ensuring compliance, etc.), but it's kind of hard to tell. I guess this may be more office specific (dependent on projects each office gets) than anything else? Also, does anyone know if Deloitte or EY expects people to be back in office most of the time anytime soon? Would prefer WFH..
Just curious to know if Federal Contractors (like AFS , DFS, EYFS, PWCFS etc) are impacted by the shutdown or in turn forced you take the PTO?
Hiring a Retention/Email Marketer for an in-house role. I work in the marketing dept and it’s pretty awesome here. Paid medical, unlimited PTO (real kind, culture is to take 4 weeks), fun co-workers
I want to know about Luminescent digital as an organisation? Someone who is presently working in this company. What are the holiday policies and leave policies? Any separate policies for women employees?
MBA hire, 3 months in and starting 2nd project. Facing a steep learning curve. How long did it take you to "get it" and feel comfortable in your role?
Hi I am having some trouble on choosing between Deloitte and PwC for a 2022 winter internship. Some pros for Deloitte include being the largest firm, and the promotion to senior being 2 years opposed to 3 at PwC. Additionally, Deloitte offers a pension and has Deloitte university. The pros of PwC include a gym in the office and a younger work force. They also give me much less of a “corporate” feel and seem to offer more flexibility. I’m wondering if anyone could give me any advice on deciding?
Has anyone attempted to or actually yoloed by billing 2k hours for the year then just going awol on an extended vacation until the next year? Put that unlimited vacation time and those minimum hours to the test. Honestly can't see why I should essentially do work for free after hitting hours.
I have 2 offers... Offered salary for one company is more than other... Can i negotitate the salary with lower offer... If they increase... Can i again negotiate with other company? Is it ok to do that? Negotiating both sides?
Need ethics/moral help from my fellow 🐟 I got laid off from ACN earlier this year. I accepted an offer and started at a boutique consulting firm exactly one month ago today. This morning, I got an email from Deloitte recruiting for the same position I’m in now, which is where I want to develop my career. Part of me wants a break from the big consulting firms, but at the same time, going to a Big 4 would feel more at home to me. Is it worth entertaining the offer, or should I just stay away?
I just watched the KPMG boss video and honestly I feel it can be interpreted in different ways. You can tell when a person says something to intentionally hurt you and when they can’t just fathom the implications based on how people interpret it. As we learn to work in an increasingly diversity focused environment I pray there’s room for forgiveness. Mind you I am a person of color. I believe in second chances and I don’t think he should have lost his job. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9253165/KPMG-boss-QUITS-video-showed-telling-paid-staff-lucky.html
Through trial and error this middle school teacher discovered new approaches to assessment that have proven to be successful in her digital and physical classroom. https://t.co/kpPHcQWQ4W
it's been nearly 3 weeks since my final interview with Deloitte. I have been continuously following up the hr team and the only update I get is ' feedback not yet received from the partner'. Is this a common thing in Deloitte.
People who hold conversations in hotel hallways in the middle of the night are the absolute worst. I can hear you through the two pillows sandwiching my head 😭
Working remote, house was was too noisy, office too far. Went to hotel lobby half a mile away instead and it felt normal again...
