Tbf, my sec always had a way of finding out beforehand and would tell me so I could take the lift down with my laptop/docs and go for a coffee and review docs until we were allowed back in!
What is this “secretary “ you speak of??
I thought it normal to be told ahead which days the firedrill would be to make sure we didn't schedule important workshops/meetings and that the delegated safety chiefs were on site that day (not working remote). Their job was to take headcount and herd the wayward to the stairs - especially those of us stubbornly trying to work through the alarms 😅.
We have a weekly fire test and then 2x a year drills which our fire wardens execute and the employees aren't told about so that it simulates a true fire escape scenario and how long it would actually take.
How many floors down?
Last one I did was 48 freaking floors. Legs were jello
One floor of stairs.
