Building my wedding registry and am trying decide between asking for a Dutch oven or a crockpot. I grew up with a crockpot but I’ve heard food made in a Dutch oven tastes SO much better. Which do you prefer?

I hardly use my crockpot any more. A nice cast iron dutch oven is so much more versatile. almost anything you can do in a crockpot you can do in a dutch oven but far from the other way around.

I’d do a Dutch Oven follows by an Instant Pot.

to PWC’s point - something like Beef Bourguignon- every one of the 20 steps can be done in a cast iron dutch oven where it would require a slow cooker, a frying pan, and maybe an oven safe dish

[we’ll ignore the fact that this is the healthy living bowl and Beef Bourguignon is the opposite of that]

It’s your registry, put both and see what happens?

My mom uses a dutch oven (just upgraded her to la creuset). But I love my crock pot, which has like 12 functions. I've used a few of those features, but i use the slow cooker 90% of the time. I know myself and I know that I wouldn't use the dutch oven enough to get use out of it. I would hate to get a too notch one which is $150-300 and not even use it (and the good ones are heavy!)

So knowing myself, I wouldn't try to switch things up when a while bunch of other things are changing in my life. Instead I would hold off until I decided I really wanted to start using a dutch oven.

I have a pricey Breville Juicer that I've had for over 6 years and only use a few times a year so i really hate collecting rarely used kitchen appliances.

Just my 2 cents.

Maybe the moral of the story is, use a registry site where you can convert gifts given to cash or store credit without having them automatically shipped to you.

Dutch oven and crock pot/insta pot combo. Get appliances that can do double duty

Normally I’d agree but the IP crock pit feature is generally considered trash. I’d get an IP with sous vide feature!

People with yards, how often do you take your dog(s) on walks?

We have 2 older dogs (7-8yo) and about to move from our apartment to a townhouse with space for them outside. In the apt, we’d do 3 walks a day - 2 long (1-1.5mi) and 1 bathroom break before bed. I’m wondering what to expect with the shift to yard life. TIA!
