Have been looking into it for yrs, but won't do it as everyone I've spoken with has terrified me with the reports of pain and long recovery time.
Haven't yet, will be doing it soon. As far as I have been told, recovery time varies. One of my close friends who had it done was up and running again in 4 weeks.
Oh God yes. I was on crutches for 6 weeks. This was in 2001 so I think that there have been advancements. I do have long-term positive results from the surgery, but I would recommend doing it only if you truly need it. You can get your shoes widened and go to PT if you need to manage pain. Good luck!
Yeah, I had one foot done when I was 15 and I have always said that I would only have the second if it were a life or death thing. It still causes me a lot of pain, but that recovery was quasi-traumatic. Keep in mind that I was also 15. I recommend good orthodicts, PT, etc or maybe do it when you are retired or working from home with someone to wait on you all of the time. Just think about showering and brushing your teeth. Two simple everyday tasks that get complicated during recovery.
