Busy season doesn't really feel like it used to be anymore. I think before, it was generally understood it would take half of the time of the year, but now it feels like it covers 70 to 90% of the year. I would love to hear if this is the feeling from people who work at big 4, mid tier/regional and small boutique cpa firms?

Don’t worry. It can’t be this bad next year…

And the year before that

Every year it seemed like busy season crept further into the year. That was one of the reasons I left. I was sick of the constant demands and lack of compensation for it.

This year is average. Worse than last year, but definitely better than next year

likefunny

I agree but how many years are you comparing as an associate lol

Mines just cover 98% of the year

That’s why the firms are now paying significantly more to all their staffs and managers over the last couple years.

funny

From what I’ve seen posted around, once inflation and last years poor compensation adjustments are taken into account those significant increases aren’t that much.

I joined B4 after college in 2019 and ever since working as QA, mainly manual/ functional testing. Can't see any progress work wise in same projects/teams. Before job, I wasn't a complete nerd but I did have some sense of programming so I wish to use that in my real life work in future. Can someone suggest how should I use my spare time so as to not be stuck in manual testing or testing itself? I'm somewhat lost when thinking of career progression after maybe next 5 years.
