Guys I’m in a big dilemma and needs your advise
Last week I got my PR invitation for Canada for which I’ve been working and waiting for years and….
Today I’ve received an offer from McKinsey after months of preparation and achieving my dream

Canada - No job there as of now
McK - extremely good package

If I choose either I need to drop the other

Now I feel completely lost to go with which option and would really appreciate if you all can share your two cents on this. Thanks

Folks who began practicing in one state but moved to another: How difficult did you find it?

I like where I'm at now but my entire friend/family base is back in my home state. I'm not running for the door, but my long term plan is to go back. Am I just making it harder on myself the longer I stay here?

Admitted 2021, both states are same region and both UBE, if that helps.

Any true solos that do both transactional and litigation? I’ve only done real estate transactional work at firms and want to open shop doing primarily that but my interest has always been in litigation. Don’t know the first thing about it but wondering if I can work at a small litigation spot for a few months just to understand procedure then go out on my own and do both real estate and litigate. Thoughts?

Has anyone used a coaching service for their firm? If so, any recommendations?

Does anybody have a resource available for pricing and billing? I am 2 years out of law school, working as a corporate attorney, and wanting to go solo. Ideally, I will take my corporate client with me, but am working to build work on the side during the transition. Also, do you have any recommendations for document preparation? I would like to draft wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents, but would like a resource that has boilerplate provisions to utilize as a reference.

How do you balance wanting to be the “go to” person who gets it all done, no matter what, and feeling like you are taken advantage of because of that?

Managing attorneys in small firms - how much do you make?

I'm in South Florida. Currently a 6 year associate at a small firm (~12 attorneys, 55 staff). Making a move towards Managing Attorney position that they are considering hiring from outside the firm for. I'm going to make the case that they should promote from within and give me the position. I'm objectively a good candidate for it. Question is... what's a good salary for that position? What do you make? Thanks.

Q for associates in boutique litigation firms: When you’ve drafted a complaint/motion/brief to be filed, do the partners allow you to actually sign the filing in your own name? For context, I’m a new associate at a class action firm where there’s ample opportunity to do substantive work & pursue your own case ideas from the get go. Today, I’m getting ready to file a complaint I drafted when a partner told me to remove my signature & insert his instead. Is this standard?

When you run a solo firm with no admin support and your model is to meet clients at their home and then you break your ankle and can’t go anywhere not handicap accessible for a few months… Thank goodness I do have a handicap accessible office I can meet at, but what a wrinkle. Just posting to commiserate with other solos doing it all themselves as we are the masters of “figure it out.”

Boutique transactional practice. Firm is growing post-COVID. Things are at risk of falling through the cracks. I need an easy way to track matters for status reports with colleagues in the firm without remaking the wheel.

Currently using Clio, which has its limitations for this purpose. I know colleagues that just use an excel spreadsheet.

Leaving the only home I’ve ever known (small real estate and litigation firm for last 7 years) to go out on my own. I know scared money don’t make money. Think I have the requisite skill set to do it, more worried about not having any clients. Any tips from others who have been through the same? Should I dump money into marketing by the buckets? Should I expand practice areas to put food on table (aka jump into cesspool family law)?
