Hi Fishies! (Is that what we are? I’m going with it)
I just came across a Google Research and Insights role that got me SUPER excited and I was about to apply when I had the idea of seeing if anyone would be willing to give me a referral. I understand (and respect) that most of you Googlers on here feel that a referral is only useful if you know the person but I would be happy to jump on the phone to give you some info about me. It would mean so much! 4 YOE at a major audio steaming service

Does novartis paused hiring ? I have completed all my rounds and have been waiting for an offer to roll out. But the recruitment team is saying hiring is on hold as review meetings are going we don't know when they will start it. Does anyone know when will they resume hiring process again.

In my opinion its always a mixed bag..I have seen lot of hardworking and sincere people (among new joiners too) as well..There are always some unmotivated souls and they will always exist due to numerous reasons. The same people would work harder in service based company where threshold for this kinda attitude is low.
Retention is a challenge due to pay difference with respect to service based companies. All pharma service based companies are expanding so market is pretty hot. But coming from a service based company myself, i can say that grass is not that green on the other side too.
Hey N:
1. Agree with your point on pay as per performance. There HAS to be more difference between high performers vs average.
2. Regarding innovation, underlying problem is different. Innovation related programs only work when people are having time to think about it. As of now they are busy managing delivery (filling up for slackers as well). Events around innovation are lame and exist more as marketing gimmick. 3. In the end, NBS service organization primary aim is to reduce vendor spend (and there is a huge difference between what we charge vs external vendors). NBS leadership in basel gets $ targets to be delivered internally thereby reducing vendor exposure. So innovation mindset is also towards solutions to bring delivery efficiency rather than creating something new for business (value creation only exists on slides :p)
I think, if you really do want to do all those amazing things, you should switch to service based companies like ZS/IQVIA/Axtria.
I am planning to move to Novartis and my major concern is also wlb. I only plan to work 5-6 hours or absolutely chill when I join it. See the thing is we have worked really really hard in companies I mentioned above to grow very fast. The recoil for that growth is exhaustion which can be relieved in product based companies like Novartis, Lilly. Plus thanks to our quick growth, we are getting paid a lot at a very young age so we don't see the need to work hard anymore.
So long story short, product based companies are like vacation home, you can't expect your colleagues to have very high enthu to work their as that was not the purpose to go there.
I know Z1. When I left ZS, I had just received hike + plus market correction of 27%
While I am a staunch supporter of empathy and unbossed attitude, this has started to get to a point where I keep wondering where do we draw a line. What is acceptable and what isn't?
Can totally correlate. I see the same set of qliksense, CRM and alteryx workframe shuffling from one form to another. It’s just new name, old game policy we are playing. Also, this accountability factor is such a pain because “Hey we’re unbossed so I can’t technically hold you accountable for something you were supposed to do”. Just encountered this situation past week and absolutely hate it
Totally agree with your thoughts. On top of this, HR hire them not basis on what they bring on to the table, but on just to lure them. Quality has been compromised considerably, but top management doesn’t bother. It also feels like being Good at what you do is no more rewarding for you.
Since you have worked in ZS i can understand your previous WLB, i guess you can manage 2 jobs at Novartis 😂
Btw which team you are working for? What’s your domain
