Nothing wrong with me.
Some extroverts just talk to fill silence and are not aware people like me find them to be draining.
One of my colleagues basically talks to herself - “okay, let me open the deck, and now I’ll press share screen” blah blah blah - at the start of zoom calls while people join. She has literally said, “I find the silence unnerving and feel like I have to say something/anything to fill it”. No, please don’t.
Conversely they’re easy to “talk” to…. I just nod and smile and they keep talking and I don’t even have to audibly participate. 😆

I’m an introvert but do this out of anxiety

I don’t. I know my boundaries and when I need to recharge so I find time to myself during conferences to avoid small talk. For example, I’ll go out for a walk around the block or building so I’m only in meetings/presentations when they’re going on.

I don't think the majority of society are extroverts. The extroverts are just loud

Confirmed D1 - I need to recover after every event. Few people know — I dance, I mingle, and enjoy the company but I pay for it.

Recommend reading Quiet by Susan Cain. There’s power in being an introvert.

Thanks A2. Have not heard of the book (will check it out) or the quiz, but I can probably predict the outcome of the quiz already 🥹

I hate that extroverts are viewed as “normal” and that there is something wrong with being quieter. They are so loud and exhausting, always telling introverts to talk more, so how about we start telling them to be quiet!

It definitely happens. But more generally, all the articles/self help about how to be more extroverted, as if extroverts are superior somehow. If we were all extroverts I cannot imagine the chaos.

I always wonder the what ifs.
What if I was a little more talkative.
What if I don’t get stressed out to talk to people.
What if I was normal…
No. I just find it hard sometimes to understand extroverts and get frustrated by their prevalence and their domination of everything.

No. Nothing wrong with me. People are different. Everyone is different.
I'm a huge introvert and today I hosted a virtual water cooler (open zoom meeting) because the BS of the day was annoying and I wanted to see what my team was up to. It was a fun time to sit and chat and eventually there were too many people in there - for my introversion - and then it was fun to just sit and watch coworkers interact.

Same SA1! I have extrovert energy on 1:1 or 1:2 but more than 2 I’m 👁👄👁
Amazing you got to host that. I tried a couple of times and it really drains me.
I used to feel that way more when I was younger and earlier in my career. I’ve learned that my contributions, although perhaps not as loud or as frequent as those of others, are valuable.
No I got the Holden Cauffield thing where everyone annoys me

Only when I feel excited about canceled plans.
I used to be an introvert now extravert. There’s worries on this side of the spectrum too.

I just can’t stand people who speak without thinking and speak confidently about things when they’re completely wrong.
Introvert here, I usually wonder what’s wrong with them - the extroverts 😂😂
During the first months of covid (pre vaccine), one of my extrovert friends resorted to drinking by themselves they were so depressed by not seeing people more regularly. They were very dramatic that this was the worst ever and just started going out regardless. Come on, there are worse things that can happen.
Yes.
