^^ charge your time to your home location. I don’t feel comfortable giving you shady advice, but at least don’t charge time to your client location coz then they’ll know you didn’t travel there. Problem is that there is always a paper trail in case somebody wants to follow it. Me being me, I would talk to my partner and ask him what to do given that it’s against policy
Sorry for being impatient. Technically telecommuting is against Deloitte policy. So if you reach out to the “concerned” folks, they will more than likely ask you not to do it. Maybe you can relay this back to your team?
Also like my counselor would say, have these discussions in writing.
There are tax implications to charging time outside the US. For that reason, they ‘strongly advise’ not to work while you are at home. I faced a similar situation and made the mistake of asking them. Tell your engagement team that you could get in trouble for working at home
That 221g admin processing lyfe
You CANNOT telecommute. It’s again company policy now
As others said don't do it. Not worth it. I don't care what the team or partner says. You got to watch your back in this environment
Don’t do it. It’a a major compliance violation and not worth a few extra days of PTO
So what’s your problem
Working from home (outside the US) until I get my passport back. Is there anyone I can reach to make sure that working on a US client from outside the US is fine?
I just did. Don't reach out to anyone - they will just raise objections. Just do it. Did it last year too.
@DD1 - I didn’t get a 221g slip. Was told my visa was approved in the interview. Still the status shows admin processing since 5 days now :(
@Op gotcha, good luck! Admin processing has no time frame and you can’t do anything to speed it up. I used to work at the department of state and saw some crazy admin processing times.
Do not work. You have to take PTO. It is against policy to work in this situation. And they are getting more and more strict about auditing this
Yeah take PTO even if it means loss of pay. This is not your fault OP. It’s unfair for them to expect us to work despite having the effing immigration and DHS working against us!
OP don’t worry.. same thing happened to my wife .. she got her passport on the 9th working day.
You cant telecommute anymore at deloitte even if you are us based?
Pwc. You just can’t telecommute internationally. US is fine.
