Came in to find out the pmo got fired just before holidays . The other manager tells me not to trust the senior manager , who actually was the one to staff me . Should I tell the senior manager ?

It was probably said in confidence. We shouldn’t trust you going forward. I’ll tell the next person on the project not to trust you too, hopefully they don’t tell you I said that

Tell the SM what? That the manager doesn’t trust them? Helllll nawwww

Just do your job. Deliver to client. Don’t spread rumors

Why would you snitch/gossip to the SM? Nothing good could come from that.

Take the caution for what it is, and keep your hands clean.

like

OP Why the M doesn’t want you to trust the SM? Were you on the PMO team? I feel your story needs more context before someone else can weigh in.

like

SM rolled off the PMO? If M and others convey something sketchy about SM I would start documenting all interactions with the SM. Especially if SM is the type to be careful of email or IM content but says shady things.

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.

My senior associate takes 1 week to get back to me with comments and then tells me that I need to turn the document asap. I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

Would love to get your input on this but how do you guys feel about consulting, especially with a STEM background? I have worked on studies where we make recommendations that anybody with a basic scientific/engineering knowledge will say “yea, no f-ing sh*t. We want to do that too. But it’s impossible to achieve from technical perspective with the money we have. You don’t think we already thought of that?”
