You never know who someone might be ten years from now, sometimes it's just beneficial from a long term investment stand point, networking perspective. But it does reflect well from a management stand point and can help with promotion opportunities since it speaks to your management style.
Freebies & the occasional alcohol-allowed recruiting events, I'll say yes
If you're only doing campus recruiting for personal benefit, probably doing it for the wrong reasons. I do it because I like to talk to college students and I'm pretty damn honest about the job.
It's above any beyond but make sure it doesn't impact you charge hour goals of hitting x hours.
Waste. Coming from senior who did it for 2 years
I enjoy it. I'm just preparing to negotiate for my annual salary adjustment and wasn't sure if it is worth pointing out.
I don't think it's a point that's going to help with negotiating all that much since anyone can do it. Gotta use things that create income for the firm as a way to differentiate yourself.
It definitely helps your career if it means having an influence, maybe an actual say, in who gets hired. After all, wouldn't we all love to surround ourselves with folks we just have a blast working with? And if having fun at work means you're less likely to quit and look elsewhere, then yes recruiting definitely helps you stay put and hopefully on partner track!
Anyone on here who says it helps doesn't know what they're talking about. If you want to be a real recruiter, go work for an actual staffing firm. Corporate recruiting is a dead end job for bad recruiters. Coming from someone with 3yrs exp as a recruiter.
Guess who is about to become a recruiter???? #byeaudit 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
👆🏼is correct with respect to networking. Other than that, you will get no increase in your pay or even a bonus. It will be a yearly goal which you met and of course "is expected of you because you should want to know the people the firm is hiring" <insert sarcasm>. Focus on the CPA (if not already passed) and on what you need to do for your next promotion as this will come into play with your exit plan.
Here it helps. One person our whole sector knows helped with recruiting so much. He had Low chargeable hours. Still Got rated a 2. He got a bonus specifically for helping with recruiting. The partner at our meeting said that they bumped his rating up since that provides value to the firm - bringing in new talent. If u go balls out to help with recruiting that it makes a different and attracts talent, u can bring it up but if u go to jst a few events I think it's sort of a waste in terms of rating and compensation tbh
It's definitely helpful to your career and can open many different opportunities in other areas of recruiting that you wouldn't think of
Recruiting helps with selling. It's actually very important for career development
I only switched bc I'm better at accounting. Recruiting is tough work but you can make more than a partner if you have the personality and work ethic.
You get to make sure, to an extent, your future staff aren't awful.
Does not help unless you are a recruiter
