So, a really great boss of mine said to me "your entire job description is to make your boss look good." I did it, and I eventually took over his job. Then, that same boss said to me "your job description now is to become irrelevant." I didnt get it at the time, but he was right on both occasions.
At the last ad agency I worked at the upper management didn't look to favorably upon my boss the ECD. After a year they eventually fired him and after they brought in a new guy, I along with a few others were let go on the grounds of "creative differences" if that helps in any way.
That's complicated. Are you the one feeding the unfavorable opinion? If so, yes.
@CD1, no I am not.
Understood and Thank you for the advice 😊
Sure if that person is good and their opinion is respected. Doesn't mean it has to be bad though. He sounds like a dick though.
I am more respected because my boss is so terrible and everyone knows it. It's because they know I'm basically on my own and am handling my job as well as what should be my boss' responsibilities.
Depends on what you mean by unfavorable. If s/he is not respected to the point of being on their way out, you're probably seen as a martyr - poor OP, as soon as we can get them into a more positive situation they will thrive. If unfavorable here is not that serious, it could be tough as your boss will be the one making promotion decisions for the foreseeable future.
