Good morning friends, I’m currently working in a clinical healthcare role but want to transition into change mgmt (healthcare). How could I bolt onto a change mgmt engagement as an assistant or facilitator? I’m near the end of an unpaid volunteer role in an OD engagement and it has worked great because it requires low hours of work while still providing me with experience. I have a signed agreement with a new employer and start date set. After signing they sent me a packet to begin a background check including asking if they can contact my current employer and for references. Is it weird they are asking for references after signing me to the job? I also would prefer they didn’t contact my current employer as I have been on pto for the week and have not had a chance to give my 2 weeks yet. How much do you rely on your para? I’m in my 30s and pretty computer literate, I don’t dictate, I like doing research etc. I know other attorneys that have their paras do all their discovery, all their research, all their motions and I wonder how it’s possible to hit billables if someone else is doing the majority of your work? Seems crazy to me.

Trying to explain billable hrs to hubs. I billed 160 this month, which he said “is only 40 hr weeks” (true) - but how many hrs do you figure you “work” or are in the office to bill 150?

Hypothetical: An attorney is representing a buyer in a transaction with a time is of the essence clause and liquidated damages . It is closing day. Attorney is holding funds for buyer (not in escrow) and advises Buyer that sellers documents are in order and requests permission to release funds. Buyer is AWOL. Just took my first depo today in a PI case. The deponent was a minor witness. The partner said I sucked. Not in a mean way or that it was hurtful to our case, just that it wasn’t good. We’re a pretty prominent law firm so the expectations are high. My drafting has come a long way where the partners have complimented my work and I’ve won all of my hearings. Just lost a huge amount of self-esteem. Any advice or tips for moving forward and and taking future depos?

Suggestions on how to handle a Zoom interview? It will be with 3 partners at the same time (2 male founding partners and 1 female partner). I typically interview very well, but it's mostly bc I a fairly good at reading people which is a bit more difficult over Zoom.

In 2020 I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I have a number of seizures a day but don’t knowwhen I’m having them (EEG detected it). I started on meds and am feeling much better, however the only way to know if meds are 100% working is to go to hospital for 3 day EEG. I’m supposed to try to live my daily life as much as possible during EEG so I need to work. But can’t do zoom calls. I hadn’t planned on disclosing my diagnosis to my boss but now feel like I’m backed in a corner here. (Cont in comments)
