Yes swaddle! But don’t swaddle with a swaddle blanket, it’s hard AF to get it right. I think the worry from the hospital is that a swaddle blanket could be a SIDS hazard if too loose.
My fave swaddle sleepsacks for newborns are sweet pea and Ollie!
Good luck!
Thanks so much!
I think the general advice is to swaddle. Get a slepsack or something equivalent so your baby can’t get out of it and ri

Swaddling is usually the advice, needs to have enough room for the legs to stay separated to prevent hip dysplasia. Most swaddles/sleepsacks sold have sufficient room so no need to worry, just be mindful if you’re using something like a muslin wrap to swaddle.
Swaddling is key! The startle reflex is so real, I found that when I didn’t swaddle and tried to lay my baby down he ALWAYS woke up
Definitely swaddle - we used a swaddle blanket underneath the nested bean swaddle because she was such a Houdini getting out of either one on its own. I did so much reading on newborn sleep and swaddling was one of the most consistent recommendations.

We swaddled. Our baby didnt like his arms to be in the swaddle though. Then to moved to a zipper sleep sack (burts bees for us). Then to nothing.
We swaddled and it took many tries to find the right blanket to use, if it’s too small, or not stretchy enough, or too stiff, it is impossible to do it well. The flannel ones from the hospital don’t work. Our first baby didn’t like sleep sacks. We found Aiden + Anais was better for sizing (you need it generously sized to wrap well) and they have some that are a silky soft fabric that we liked better. We also found Copper Pearl has some great blankets with soft jersey. We found as first-time parents we had to borrow or spend extra money to try different brands etc. for all kinds of things and then accept that they may not all work out. We got better as we learned.

Also loved the A+A swaddling blankets. We tried the sleep sacks but he would always slip his arms out and wake up. Also the Velcro on them was loud enough to wake him up during diaper changes and they got stuck on everything in the washer. We still use them (he’s almost 3 now) for a bunch of random things, he uses some as blankets for his stuffed animals, they’re super versatile. When he was around 4-5 months we did transition to the sleep sack with the removable arms so he could roll over.
The Ollie swaddle is stupidly expensive but is amazing.
We used SwaddleMe blankets with our kid. They have velcro straps and a zipper at the bottom for easy night changings. I loved them! Not super expensive either.
Oh totally swaddle. We used the Halo Swaddle
