The hours requirement is 2000 “total contribution” hours including unlimited pro bono and nonbillables like business development, etc. In 2021 billed 1850 billable with 150 pro bono and about a 100 other nonbillable contribution hours and expect to get a bonus. That said, bonuses are definitely below market. From a lifestyle perspective, I’ve found people very respectful of my time and boundaries. I prefer to log on earlier and be done with work by 5pm and have never had an issue doing so. I’m a third year and have only worked on a weekend maybe 5 times. I’ve had high quality and interesting work.
I am not! And this is obviously anecdotal but wanted to offer one perspective.
Current junior associate in the transactional group. I have had a great experience at the firm so far. Salary is market and bonus TBD but it feels like the firm is looking to compete at the top tier and taking noticeable steps to do so (recruiting/pay/benefits, etc). Transparency from the top has been good overall.

I understand they have a 2100 billable hour req. For below market bonuses. Very nope

4th year associate. Just got bonus announcement. Got $95k for billing 2,500 hours. Not quite market but pleased with it. I know a lot of associates who didn’t hit their hours and still got prorated bonuses they were pleased with so that’s a nice move.
I’m a current associate and have been there 2 years. I really like the team. It’s been good and challenging work. Comp has been near market post-merger; bonus TBD.
Heard great thing.
Yes. Don’t get greedy.

Also, my office had some very serious partner behavior issues: partners high at work, partner who punched walls, partner who gave my secretary an erotica novel for Christmas and married to other people partners sleeping with one another....and one partner who exposed himself to my female colleague while changing for tennis, intentionally, for more than a few minutes. GROSS. Do better, Troutman Pepper.
Sounds like some stories I’ve heard about people in the NY office of Troutman before the merger.
