Entirely depends on what team and client you are on. Controllership is broad, could be anywhere from financial reporting, SOX, internal audit, to audit response and remediation, and anywhere in between.
Hours are also dependent on client and team. Some barely hit 40, some will hit 70 sometimes. Same with travel. I’m expecting less travel overall as it isn’t as needed and clients don’t want to pay for it.
So far I really enjoy it because of the client and team I’m on. But your experience may vary.
I have had the complete opposite experience from SC1. Been on a consistent project working with the same people. There is some staff augmentation roles but they are usually with extremely large clients that will look great on your resume. Comp is significantly better than audit as are the hours.
I would run. Deloitte hires people in controllership just to sell them out to other practices. I’ve been here for just under year and have yet to work with another controllership person. Worked with a bunch of parts of Deloitte consulting do the same work and get paid less.
SC1 - you need to raise this with your coach and Talent. This isn't how it typically works and your experience shouldn't be like this. Controllership isn't just farming out to other groups and it's actually not aligned with strategy.
