Anyone else think the "Audit Experience" requirement for FDD roles is overblown?

From my experience talking and working alongside individuals in FDD is that the first year has a steep learning curve and while an Audit background is a nice to have the work you'll be doing is different from Audit.

I would think it would make more sense to bring in an associate sooner rather than wasting another year in Audit when they could already be learning the FDD role.

I've been working in management consulting for the last few years (incl working at Big 4). I studied at LSE, performed well at work and academics, and have a strong enough CV to make it through the door at MBBs. I now have an upcoming interview with one of the MBBs but I'm very nervous. I feel like I'm not cut out for the MBBs and will never be able to 'crack' the case study interview because I'm just not good /smart enough. Any advice on how best to build the confidence and take myself forward?
