Do you mean what can you expect in terms of compensation?
I work for a fortune 200. We have salary grades. Almost all large publicly traded companies have some sort of salary grading systems or matrixes (or matrices if you like Latin).
At my company, counsel would be a grade 25 or 26. The midrange for grade 25 is $190 and grade 26 is $210. This does not include the 20% bonus target (which is based on company performance and is not guaranteed) and restricted stock units (vesting over a three year period). This year the RSU was about 20% to 25% of the grade 25 and 26 salaries. I should add that the bonus and RSU’s are adjusted for performance.
A change in title AND change in grade (the two do not always happen at the same time at my company), could push an attorney into grade 27, which has a midpoint of $268 and a larger bonus target of 25%.
