Sorry I’m not trying to sound weird, but this is such a happy/ cute post and question— made me smile. You might enjoy Jenna Marbles in youtube- she has one video where she introduces her plants and how she takes care of them... one of my fave videos from her.
I’m a plant expert ladies (I have a problem, over 100- one of the few meditative hobbies that keeps me from going insane from consulting lol), watering and light depends on the plant. Need to say what type of plant it is.
What’s the first plant? I don’t recognize it.
The second one is a pothos (best plant for traveling consultants who want greenery) how often do you water and can you show a better picture of the dying leaves?
Love your corner @M2, sooo cute and serene
Thank you!!! Just became a plant owner and I think it completely changes the vibe of the apartment. 😊
You may need to change the soil. And yellow usually indicates overwatering
Another one
I’m jealous that you can keep plants alive. I inherited my black thumb from my mother. I killed bamboo in my apartment in Charlotte then succulents received as a house warming gift in FL.
The only plants I’ll own are silk, plastic or in artwork. ☺️
Try air plants!
I brought this plant home in July (left) and it’s grown so much (right). I think it’s because of the miracle growth I’ve been feeding it. Do you guys think I should change the pot to a bigger one? Sorry to hijack your post but all the plant lovers seem to be here ☺️
This is a dumb cane. Thanks for the tips 🤗
Last one!
For the yellow turning brown leaves you might need to water less or have better drainage for the plant - it shouldn’t be sitting in water at the bottom. If the leaves are fully turning brown (no yellow in between) the plant is likely exposed to too much direct sunlight and burning.
Order miracle growth from amazon! I can’t tell you how amazing those spikes are!! My plant went from three leaves to large plant in just a few months.
Just bought it too lol
😩😩 I’m in the exact same boat. I just watered and put her out in the sun. I need help too.
Do you fertilize?
I had them pot my plants for me at the store! I think they added some fertilizer but I’m not sure.
thanks! yeah my apartment is full of books but those are some of my favorites.
I water only when soil is dry, which for my established plants is about once a week at height of summer and once a month in winter. Once a houseplant is established, it's not going to kill it to go a little limp between waterings. Better to see a plant need more water than deal with soggy soil, fungus gnats and root rot.
My plants also get a monthly shower where I put them all in the bathtub while rinsing them with showerhead. Helps flush out salt buildup in the soil and keeps the leaves clean. I also remove dead leaves during this time and prune if needed. I may sing to them.
Protip, when buying a new plant, gently remove the pot if it's in a plastic pot to check if it is rootbound. While you're in there, give the soil a hearty sniff. If it smells kind of like overripe banana or musty, it has a fungus and will likely die within a few months. Look for movement - fungus gnats larvae are tiny but wiggle around in wet soil. Healthy roots should smell like wet earth, clean, minerally and fresh. I like buying scraggly underloved plants to rehabilitate, but I won't bring in gnats or fungus.
The leaf closest to the soil looks like this... any thoughts??
Oh wait... that’s kind of been happening but I cut them off. Just a little brown on the tips but I figured maybe it was overwatering/underwatering?
I purposely didn’t water my plant the last week and I feel like it’s still getting worse. Maybe I’m overwatering though? The soil was still moist and there was water in the bottom plate.
Sounds good - thanks again 🤗
And I mean it! A lot of the digital world is just discovering plants and I think it might be a nice side hustle for you 🤓
Broke the terrarium 😭😭😭 This is why I can’t have nice things :( I’m going back to plastic plants...I’m clearly not ready to be a real plant owner...
Kudos to all your lovely plant owners though! 🥂
Oh nüüü 😔
Ok, sorry I’m being super annoying but now my other plant is dying.. does anyone know what could be wrong with this one? Clearly I’m horrible at this.
Chief
Looks like root rot - too much water
