I think you’ve done the first step which is knowing you can go more so good job! I would then identify not only things of interest but transferrable skills that you will no matter where you go. Next identify roles you like where you can make an impact do you don’t feel like you are feeling now. Career conversations are helpful where you reach out to people in roles you want. For tech roles, I think a certification will help or try a tech bootcamp in your area. See if you can do any of that work now via projects..Then adjust your resume to highlight those skills and seek referrals. Hope that helps!

Thank you for the advice! I had a cousin and friend of mine give insight into being a BA, but will definitely try speaking with professionals in other roles of interest!

Certifications help, but getting experience doing meaningful side projects and contributing to open source projects is more helpful imo, if you don’t have any relevant experience.

like

Thank for the advice. I’ve never contributed to an open source project but will look more into that!

Consider entry level roles in product management or business strategy and operations.

like

Thank you for the suggestion! Would you be able to provide any insight into the role? Do you like the role? Was the interview process difficult ? Would taking a certificate in agile help?

You have coding experience so that opens a lot of doors for you. Tech is a great field and there is a huge need for people with your skills. I agree with the last comment that you could consider a product management role. That is a very desirable career field now and pays well.I would do a word search on LinkedIn for the coding skills you have (I.e python). See what posts appear as well as jobs to get an idea of what you might be eligible for with pivoting. Read through the job descriptions. Something you hadn’t considered might come up. You might not need a certification at all. I just made a career pivot to project management and didn’t get a certification. I know people going into product management without one too.

Oh, btw the interview was 4 rounds. Recruiter, panel interview, hiring manager (director position) and final over the phone but I also found out I was selected in that call. Recruiter is general interview questions, but the Panel interview was very role specific. I was prepared and had recalled a few different stories I could use with any question they asked. I’ve found stories are best as you can say you are great all day, but providing examples are the best way to prove it.

Consider FP&A in a fintech…. Your coding and finance background will come handy.
