Background:Asia, expecting to promote to M this cycle. Looking for some advice on being headhunted/jumping ship. I’m speaking to HR from another big 4 + a recruiter for another firm for an M role, and it looks like the $ and potentially benefits will be bigger, but I’m not that keen on moving unless the $ is a huge jump. Any advice on how I might navigate this? Have interviews next week for the other roles.
Do you stay at a good firm with a good reputation where you are siloed in a back office role with no growth or go to a lesser known firm with less track record and opportunity to learn and grow? I’m in an extremely operational role and want to leave but the benefits down the line could be grand. How do you evaluate a decision like this?
I have experience in Java Support for 5 YOE. I am not having expertise in Java development but understand the language. Recently i was able to clear an interview at CGI for the role of Java Developer. I am feeling less confidence if I will be able to survive. Should i take this chance or will I get fired if am not so expert? Please advise.
This recruiter is pushing for industry manager positions based on my experience but I don't feel ready for it. Im currently a senior 1. Will it look bad if I decline a manager position just because I don't feel ready?
Do you think agencies are hiring a larger percentage of freelancers to bypass their promises of improved parental leave, which are only available to full-time staff?
Hi Greg - Two questions. 1.What life lessons would you give to those who want to stick to consulting in the long run? 2.Same Q but for those who want to exit + what is the optimal role to quit Thanks

Facing a career decision: do I take the pay raise, or the position that I'm more interested in?
I currently work in a hybrid sales/marketing role. However, I would love more experience in marketing specifically so I can move in to a marketing specific role. Does anyone have a suggestion of books or articles, podcasts, organizations to follow that will allow me to stay up to date on the latest trends but also help prepare for a marketing centric role? Thank you

Hey fishes I know it's kinda depressing but that's what I am into so it's been months now with Amazon and I've working in a new role learning great stuff but here's the catch I don't have anyone to contact with like people here don't reply if you ask for help and if you even call out like they defend by saying they're busy . Forget favors they don't reply to "hey". I have total 2 yrs of exp so barely saw work culture at office. But I wanna ask is this normal or I'm overthinking.

Fishes, looking for recommendations on growing business development and sales skills. Finding and growing pipelines, establishing marketing materials, closing sales, and similar for services. I have on the job experience within consulting but never any formal training or education. Entering a new role where I'll need to build organizational capabilities from scratch. Any recommendations on programs, certificates, courses, books, or other similar ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
I’m being promoted to Manager this November but recent got offer from a fintech. In money term the manager base pay is 5k greater than the new role but i’m negotiating to match the offer with my Manager salary. Should I wait until promoted or move asap? I dont want to continue working in external audit so trying to pivot to data analyst role/IA in the fintech before moving to full DA/DS position… but thinking the Manager promotion would help negotiate salary in the future.
Anyone do the freelance consulting thing post exit on the side ? Any best practice or lessons learned ?
I got a partner referral to MBB and am expecting to get a first round interview invite in several weeks. Unfortunately I've never done a real case in my life. How should I prepare?

What are the general thoughts on automatic rebalancing of 401k? Good idea to maximize returns or better to pick some funds and stick to them?
We have it worse than our parents. No real pension( defined benefit plan) which pays you an amount per month til death. 401k are at risk of the market.. while ceos and partners....make millions

Hi all! Does anyone have any advice/resources on how to prep for business intelligence roles interviews? For example, data analytics/viz quesions (not necessarily coding on spot but explain how I would approach a data related request). So far I have been answering based on my work experience, but want to do a more systematic prep if possible

How do I get my old project to leave me alone? I rolled off, but they keep calling me in for little things. My new project leads are okay with it for now, but I want it to end. What to do?
I am always the first to leave and I am so sick of the judgment. Why does it matter if I get the work done?
Does anyone else feel like their burn-out cycle is shorter? It used to take me about 2 years of grind before I hit a burn-out phase where I needed to do some serious recuperating. It feels like I'm at 3 months now, or even less. I've already spoken to my wife about building quarterly mini-vacations into my schedule just to keep my energy up. And by burn-out, I mean you're at the point that every single ball you are juggling can drop and you get fired and almost see that as a blessing.
