Powerblocks
Spend the money especially if you are going to use it, and want it to last. You can find Powerblocks used too on Amazon Marketplace so great value there.

I bought the magnetic 2.5 lbs weights to go on both sides so I more easily work in 5 lbs increments.
Bowflex are awesome or any interchangeables. Paid 500 for a set 5-55 covered

Define pricey.
We have the Bowflex 5-52s and really like them.
Are you M or F? Trying to bulk up or just gain strength? F here —- I do a lot of HIIT workouts at home with the peloton app or YouTube videos. I started with 5, 8, and 10 lb dumbbells, and that covered me for a long time. Walmart seems to have them back in stock for relatively cheap!

I built a gym in my garage and other than the Powerblocks, I found everything else on Facebook marketplace at deep discounts.
In some cases it was free if I moved something heavy out of their house.
They have them a la carte at Target. Generally in stock which is a plus during pandemic times.
Nordic track has a set of 5-55 adjustable s for under 350 on Amazon
I’d just find an Olympic bar and then the weights are pretty much standard after that. You can find a couple 45 lb and 25 lb plates and you pretty much are set. Find some rubber padding and lay it on top of a wooden mat and you’re set.
The reality is that you don't need a lot of dumbbells to get a good workout, you just sometimes need to be a little creative with how you structure your workouts - the Bowflez 552s, Powerblocks, Ironmasters, and Pepin adjustable sets are all nice but will be a few hundred dollars.
Most people with average strength can get in some great training with a pair of 15s, 25-30s, and maybe one heavier pair. Rubber hex dumbbells are being restocked at Walmart, Target, Academy Sports, and even Best Buy has them online for decent prices - around $1.50/lb.
My first piece of gym equipment was a pair of 40 lbs dumbbells and now I have an entire home gym - but even with just the one pair of dumbbells I was able to train every muscle group and get some great workouts.
You can also find bands at all of the stores mentioned previously (except best buy) and bands are a good way to add resistance without spending a ton of money or needing a lot of space for equipment.
Hope this helps!
REP fitness has solid prices on equipment and they deliver. Good if you’re stocking up equipment for your own home gym but avoiding Rogue prices.
Glad I purchased my home gym in 2019 then!
Iron master! By far the most solid adjustable DBs I’ve ever used. The only drawback is the time it takes to change plates out.
