What is the best way for an experienced domain individual with many years of consulting exp to get into McKinsey? Apply online or referrals are what makes a difference? How much of a partner referral makes a difference? Are performance expectations same or higher than B4/Deloitte etc.

For those roles in non strategy such as risk or implementation, does any of the mbb recruit out of non targets?
I'm a master's student in business analytics in a non target in NYC, and I really am interested in an implementation/ risk consulting at MBB.
