Can anyone share their experience working for an IT staffing company as a sales executive? Any particular pros and cons?

Used to work in IT staffing in the DC metro area for over two years. There are some long haulers who can do it but most end up quitting or burning out after a year or two. The ones that last have made their job a core part of their identity where I worked was a bit of a cult at the time where there was a lot of internal politics.

Pros
+ done right- you build life long relationships where people trust in you and your ability to help them staff and build their business
+ you can make decent money in year 2 but in most cases- your first year is a GRIND with little to no success

Con
- Burnout and attrition are high
- There are so many IT staffing firms ranging from the behemoth TEKsystems to the small mom and pop boutique shops so know who you’ll be competing against

Hi! Six months ago I started working on the sales side at an IT staffing company after being on the sales side for a healthcare staffing company for five years before.

I can’t compare it to other IT sales roles, but here’s what I notice in IT vs healthcare staffing-
-using staffing companies is much more accepted than it is in healthcare
-market is more saturated
-people you’re selling to are nicer
-you have to be much more knowledgeable about the trade of people you’re placing in order to vet them well
-I think that the money is better and lifestyle are better long term

Staffing is staffing though and dealing with people as your product is never going to be a 9-5 job so I think being level headed and persistent is the biggest thing

Any suggestions on how to quantify admin assist on sales? I know it’s complicated per org, but trying to find a path so admin commission on sales isn’t subjective.
I know technically everything a sales team admin does helps lead to sales but not sure how to quantify it so it isn’t dependent on the whims of a manager and whether or not they’re having a bad day.
Any suggestions on milestones or performance measures? KPIs? Want to make sure admins get a slice of the pie they helped make.

Segmenting / database quality question —- we have 2 segments based on EE count : 21-100 and 101+. We use LinkedIn as source of truth. Any idea how to search LI based on LinkedIn employees (with profiles) not the range or best way to prospect into this segment?

Here's a question, I see that you can apply to jobs with just your resume, and there isn't an opportunity to include a cover letter. This astounds me because that's really where a business can learn your values and what you can offer them. Does anyone recommend a way around this? I thought about uploading a two page resume with the cover letter included. It seems a loss not to include that edge.

Hello, fellow newbie here 😀
Was wondering if yall know of any remote sales jobs with a good starting base salary? I'm doing great at my current role selling senior health insurance (76k give or take a year) but I know I'm capable of selling at a higher commission range. My calls at my last company were all cold (around 100 a day). I got job offers as a recruiter and also a few SDR offers but both fields the base is under 45k. I have a four year degree and one year of sales experience. Thank you

Are all MLMs really evil? Obviously the ones like Luluroe and such that you have to buy $$$ merch up front. But are there any that actually work well? I have friends who sell Amway (which I thought was evil), but they legitimately love what they do. And they're not -terribly- sales pushy like other people I've met. Curious if the MLM industry is shifting.

Which company would you join?

I currently work in Sales with the intention of moving over to marketing in the near future. I received two offers for BDR/SDR roles from
Sprout Social and Gong. Both salaries are around the same (Gong - base 63k + anticipated $25k in commission, Sprout - 55k base + anticipated $25k in commission).

I like both companies’ software and it extremely hard to decide which position will get me into marketing faster as it is not a traditional BDR path to take.

Took a job in insurance sales and the rest is history! Been in sales for about 15 years now ❤️
