Can anyone shed some like on the National Tax department team and how one can join it? It seems like the NTD professionals in my office have it so well No busy season because it’s mostly project based

Partner 1 is a hero. If s/he is for reals, props to this level of leadership being willing to reach out on FB.

Thanks for the info everyone! I’m not looking to switch groups yet but thanks Partner 1 🙂
I asked the two individuals in my office. One does indirect tax and one does BTA (exempt orgs)

like

OP - ok. Offer still stands if you change your mind.

I think Partner 1 on this thread is an EY NYC ITS partner. Am I right? 😉

like

EY3 - possibly. DM me.

And they have the typical 40 hour weeks. Sometimes if project deadlines are tight , they may work a little more. Not like the other tax groups that does 80-100 weeks during busy season or even year round. I spoke with two individuals that are in NTD and they seem really happy with their position and team and honestly, I’m a little jealous lol 😂 😭

It’s a great group - believe they do indirect tax. Definitely a great work life balance overall

At EY many in NTD, at least at more senior levels are ex-Treasury or IRS. They wrote Treasury Regulations, etc. They get called in as technical resources on transactions, audits, etc. They write our tax alerts, help the firm develop our technical positions, etc. People do join the group and/or people do rotations in NTD.

DM me. I would be happy to see if it could be a good fit for you. However they still work really hard. Yes, no busy season per se but it’s not the 40 hour a week job you think it is.

I'm technically in NTD, feel free to DM me.

In NTD... LOL at 40 hr weeks. I wish. 50-60hrs each week, all year. Also, we deal with busy season due to increased questions and compliance assistance from regions. Big push for utilization in all groups (and, my understanding is that revenue is becoming more important at PPMD levels). All groups have been expanding in last 3-4 yrs, adding more young people. Treasury/IRS refugees exist, but definitely not a big percentage of SM and below ranks...

Why is it that designers are always expected to be creating content, honing a new skill, or working on some side project outside of work? You don’t see accountants coming home from work and thinking to themselves, “I sure would like to do some more math!”

Hey fellow fishes - can you rate Deloitte Vs PWC Vs EY SAP practices ? If I am client issuing an RFP for cloud s/4 rollout and it’s a global opportunity, do I put those 3 in the same tier ? Or No? Appreciate your input. Lastly how is their SAP practice outlook over the next 5 years ? I know couple of years ago i would have said Deloitte is head and shoulders above both EY and PWC. But recently I am hearing a lot of investment and attention from pWC and EY. But people can share good:bad:ugly

Is it a red flag as a candidate to ask if a company offers maternity leave? I was recently laid off, so I wasn't expecting to lose my job. We're planning on trying for a baby in the next year or so, so it's really important to me that my next job offers paid maternity leave.

The issue is that it's so rarely advertised on company web sites, but ultimately better maternity leave would sway my decision for a job. Is there a way to ask this tactfully? Or without raising red flags?

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??

Cancel tomorrow and Friday interviews or no cancel and potentially get an offer and decline?
