Can anyone summarize PwC travel expense policy? Considering making the switch and curious how it compares to EY. (Not curious enough to ask through official channels 💁🏼‍♂️)

Made it from intern to manager and still starving myself in the middle of the day 🤣

We essentially get two swipes per day. Supposed to be once for breakfast and once for dinner but who is to say you don't eat breakfast at noon?

like

Most important question: can I️ finally get lunch? 🤷🏼‍♂️

like

No lunch. Sorry boo.

😂 lunch

like

Don't mess around with expenses. At most firms you get breakfast and dinner. I've seen people eat breakfast at noon sometimes. However, if you get breakfast included in the hotel rate or eat in the lounge every morning and then swipe for your lunch at noon every day then you are asking for trouble.

like

P4- how would they ever know if you eat in the lounge? Also not expensing lunch is ridiculous. Why should I have to pay $20 every day in NYC when I live in Chicago and pack when I am local?

I hear you op. You have to jump :)

Well, uncle Ernie says we can't have lunch at noon... 😢

Uncle Ernie actually hasn't said you can't have lunch at noon. Where in the policy do you see that?

@EY3—It’s not in the policy, but it’s been in various interpretive guidance over the years. During expense audits, it’s something that they look into.

If it's not in the policy then they can't ding you on it. "Interpretive" guidance is arbitrary.

@EY3—Of course, as is enforcement of the policy itself (e.g., handling of meals when traveling internationally). Also, not sure what you mean by “can’t”. Would someone be terminated for expensing lunch as breakfast alone? Probably not. But violating the spirit of the expense policy is a violation of the Global Code of Conduct, and in aggregate with other violations it can build into a troubling profile.

Depends on the project. I've gotten lunch for all of my projects so far.

You make a good point OP. But if you skip breakfast, then why can't you eat your breakfast at noon?

^Doesn't seem right. Anyway OP you can always bf in the hotel and use that princely $15 to buy lunch before 12 and eat it in parts. Or buy enough dinner to cross over to lunch. Etc.

I've never understood why no lunch

I’ll never understand people that don’t expense lunch, go with the two swipe policy. If it gets flagged, do what I do and say you’re on a diet of intermittent fasting and only eat between 12-8.

I am having a hell of a time, I wear one pair of work shoes, then would like to bring with me workout shoes and one substitute pair of work shoes… but I am having a hard time getting it all to fit. Any advice? Do you all just bring one pair of work shoes?

Just received cousin's invite to her wedding and it's on a Sunday. It's not necessarily a destination wedding but is in a city that neither she nor her family, nor her partner's family lives, so everybody has to fly + get hotels. I'm annoyed because I think it's a but disrespectful to your guests to make them all travel and do it on a Sunday so people have to take time off work Monday in order to attend. I know I don't have to attend, but shouldn't it be convenient for guests?
