Can copywriters be marketing managers or do they only look for account people for that title?

If you have enough cross skills, yes. Though it’s generally a hard leap if you’re not versed enough in the non-creative business side and operational fundamentals that are necessary to succeed. You’d probably thrive in a marketing role that really focused on presale though, which can generally be really copy and idea heavy. -signed a former designer turned marketer turned CD

Hello! I’m doing an “eat the alphabet” activity with my friend where each letter red presents a country, I.e. (A)fghanistan, (B)razil, etc. I’m currently at O and looking for recommendations for Oaxacan restaurants (Oman is the only country that starts with O but there aren’t any restaurants serving it’s food in NYC so extending to cities/regions). Anyone have recommendations for a Oaxacan, not just Mexican, restaurant that is also affordable? Thanks!

Hey! This is a difficult question but here it goes...

I started freelancing in digital marketing in 2018 and I created an agency, it's not legally registered but I have been using the name and putting myself out there as an agency.

In 2021 I started working at another agency and they made signed a non compete agreement. I left that job a few months ago and I'm back to freelancing but I'm worried about the agreement potentially being a pain in the # now or in the near future. Any advice?

Most of my freelance work over the past three years has been cannabis industry related. I was hired in the beginning of November in-house for a growing brand. (pun not intended) It feels like the wild west where anything goes and most people seem to be winging it.

So much potential to do great work, but nothing I would show or be proud of. I did better work as a consultant.

Anyone else working on the Brand side of the cannabis industry? Thoughts?

I was recently offered a “promotion” from Senior Director to… a Senior Director with a much bigger team.

I’m basically doing the same role the VP did before me (brand, campaigns, strategy, design, web, content all under me).

I was offered NO pay bump with the additional responsibility and NO title change. My base is 200k… and my highest paid direct makes 180k for doing about 1/2 the work. I get no equity because we’re private.

I work for a very profitable tech company. Is this fair?
