Omg I can’t believe people are saying no! It might not technically be policy but if you’re working overtime and you don’t have time to cook dinner for yourself, you should definitely expense that dinner. People who say no, What difference does it make to your budget?? Y’all sound like robots who have absolutely no empathy for your team.
OP to answer your question- YES. Everyone I know does it. I would be appalled if another manager told my staff/seniors not to.
Lol EY15 get educated about tax before you pass judgment. I never mentioned 10K and wasn't talking about tax provision. But speaking of provision, I've had to work long days because the client sent the tax provision to us 2 days before the audit team wanted sign-off. We work on more intense deadline than you apparently ever have.
And if you're an auditor and you've never worked long hours...you're not helping your team out enough and you should change that.
Thanos enjoys the balance in your responses
If I work over 12-13 hours.. it could be on mars I’m expensing it
Policy is no but people do it all the time. I wfh a lot because I'm anticipating long hours. A meal is seriously the least the firm can do for me when I'm working 15-16 hours a day.
Pwc policy is no. You’re suppose to be in the office to earn OT meal
Yes you can. Overtime is overtime whether you’re at home, work, or anywhere else.
Yes I do it all the time
No lol. Are you serious?
Yeah
Just expense it like you were in the office
How would they know where you are?
EY15: I don't think there's any entitlement in having the firm pay for overtime meals. If work is cutting into my personal time which could be spent prepping meals, and I'm wfh so I can sleep 6 hours instead of 3.5-4, I think it's fair for the firm to still pay for meals.
What a dumb comment EY15. Just because you can't work long hours at home doesn't mean other people have that same issue.
EY15: what a dick. Your comment is really dumb. I have literally woken up at 6 am and worked until 2 am the next day and only took 3 hours off to eat and shower so I can crank out tax returns/tax return reviews. Also not sure what kind of prehistoric age you live in, but if you haven't noticed, we have phones, we have sharescreen, so not that hard to work from home. Tax people do it all the time during compliance busy season. Just because you don't know enough about the tax practice doesn't mean we're slacking off.
I say yes too. If you work 9-9 when would you have time to cook.
For EY there are two diff options on GT&E, one tax free consumed on site and other just regular dinner.
In that case, I should basically never buying my own dinner.
The entitlement is unreal here...definitely not policy and could lead to a bad rep if others above you find out. IMO not worth it if you value any kind of long term career at EY.
@EY15 the meal given by the firms is something that some employees are entitled to on certain days, according to the policy...so yeah, they’re entitled
EY15: It's slower in the office because I get interrupted with questions. And yeah I'm doing well - it's nice getting interesting projects from managers I like. Also you're a dick.
