I was just let go from my company which I really enjoyed working at after only 9 months in a newly created role. I was completely blindsided and told it’s was due to scope and organizational changes. I had no performance reviews or discussions leading up to termination. Currently a staff 2 in audit at a big 4 firm (will be promoted to senior later this year), and I’m curious about switching into FDD. I’ve been seeing the referral plugs in here from all of the FDD folks, but it’s mainly been directed at those with more experience. Should I wait it out to make the switch or would I stand a chance with only 1.5 years of experience?

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Partnership deal - is this a good deal?
I’m working on building a start-up. This requires an app and a website. A friend of mine has a web development company who can do the job for me very well and efficiently. He really likes my project and offered a partnership: i pay him $30k and he gets 20% equity.
He also gave me the option to be ‘treated as a client’ and deliver my project at a normal rate (about $80K), should I not want to partner.
