Can I get some feedback from other female engineers? How do you handle a manager that makes vaguely sexist remarks? Thankfully, it doesn’t interfere with my work but I find it really inappropriate

This type of person must be confronted, even if it is your boss because the sexist issue is a clear violation of the country's labor laws, surely he is an older person, but that is not why he can be allowed such things.

If you feel that you are being disrespected and it is, what you should do is go to the entity that regulates this in your company, in mine it is a personnel complaints department, and they will surely call your attention.

How strange that a man takes advantage of a position of power to issue inappropriate comments, you must confront him and report him, do not allow that to happen, and be strong before the aggressor.

Even if you think that it does not interfere with your work if it does, it makes the space uncomfortable for reasons totally unrelated to the company's responsibilities, that is, the company must ensure your total peace of mind to obtain the most optimal product from you, therefore you must denounce him.

In no way, much less in a work environment, should a person deal with sexist comments, these are old practices that must be repealed so that they do not affect them again, so try to report them and if your complaint does not work, help external entities to improve the situation.

I have been working as an ME and a Systems Engineer for 25-years. Everyone attends sexual harassment training. I maintain my professional role as an engineer at work, and I act like a lady, too.

When asked to climb up to and across the catwalk in my business suit (a skirt that day), hard hat, safety shoes, roll of drawings, tools, etc. - alone - and straddle some piping so they could watch from below; I responded, “I don’t think that would be appropriate, do you?”

When the other associate(s) staffed on the same deal are being very competitive and pulling gunner on you (e.g., always available when partner emails 11pm, 2am or 4am and some occasional backstabbing on docs working together), do you play the same game? It’s tiring to seek for external validation but concerning to be compared against that attitude. Do you play short or long game?

I started at a new company about 2 months ago. I joined during a slow period of work and going into the holidays has practically been nothing. However when I do need approvals on things or direction from my boss it is radio silence. I can not get a response to save my life and I feel as if people are getting frustrated with me because of this. It also makes me feel as if there is no urgency in my position or the company in general. Wondering if this is even the right company for me.

Sales assistant at a drug/grocery store. The manager thinks my coworker does great work but I've seen her putting out new products without rotating stock (so the oldest food will be sold first) and we are always supposed to check the dates when shelving new things. The problem is, I don't really get along with this coworker and I think it's noticeable to management. If I bring this up with our supervisor, are people going to think that I'm just trying to sabotage my coworker so that I will look better than her?

Does anyone have sound advice for dealing with nitpicking feedback from a skip-level manager? I'm all for constructive feedback but something tells me that this individual might be out for me. Anyone else ever told that you go “too above and beyond” for your customers? For example, I deal with a lot of returns and repairs and sometimes customers don’t have their order information. I offer to help them find it with just some supplemental info. Could take anywhere from an extra 5 to 25 min of digging, depending on what info they can provide. Direct manager? Doesn’t care. Her boss however, made that comment this morning when asked about my daily productivity.
