Can I go to the “safer” grocery store hours? They say “people over 60, pregnant or immunocompromised.” I’m not 60, but have a letter stating I am high risk. Will people challenge me?

Would poorly trained strangers challenge you in a time of fear and crisis? The more important question is, who cares? If you need to go, go

likeuplifting

I actually meant that they probably will challenge you, again due to the poor training and general fear...

Never hurts to try.

like

Who would be challenging you? Unless in total lockdown I dont see that happening.

like

Age, during the 60+ shopping hours.

If you’re really high risk, go with your head held high. If not, don’t even dare.

like

I don’t think it would make you a jerk. If anything, it’s important people understand that this virus can threaten others around them who otherwise look healthy. Maybe then they will be more thoughtful and committed to actually maintaining social distancing for society’s general welfare.

like

What are these “safer” grocery store hours?

like

Some stores are implementing an hour or two of the day where only people over 60 or otherwise high risk can go

like

If you are higher risk just go during those special hours. Fuck any looks you get. I highly doubt anyone will challenge you and if they do they are an asshole and you can share your letter if you want. You need to protect yourself even more because of being immunocompromised, and don’t ever feel that you need to apologize for it. The people crowding bars last weekend should be apologizing to you! Go with your head held high!!!

upliftinghelpful

I expect dirty looks. Maybe I just need to not care. I’m hoping Instacart will save me, but they keep canceling my orders!

like

I mean if you’re high risk, it’s there for you.

like

I went. Some old people gave me looks. It was empty at 7 am, but by 7:30 was pretty full and I was glad to be leaving. There were like 10 packages of toilet paper total. The guy bagging did sort of hint around that I didn’t look at risk, but no one asked outright.
If we get to lockdown status I imagine I’ll need the letter.
I wore gloves and showered when I got home. I should be all set for a few weeks. Who knows where we’ll be by then.

like

If you have a letter I think you’re good to go, no?

If you are very scared, use instacart or amazon prime fresh. Then hold the grocery for 3 days.

Walmart grocery pickup has worked for us.

Maybe go right at the tail end of that first hour?

Try shopping really early in the morning? Hopefully the store cleaned over night and not too many people will shop before daylight

Anyone experiencing panic attacks and anxiety during pregnancy (along with inability to fall and stay asleep for a normal period of time)? I never had problems with anxiety/panic attacks/insomnia before. When I was pregnant the 1st time, it started when I was 27 weeks and lasted until I delivered. I am now pregnant again, it’s been 3.5 years, and Lo and behold - all these symptoms are back again, and I am only 25 weeks.
Consulted with my obgyn my 1st pregnancy- her solution was Benadryl

Moms, what is your opinion on goat milk formula? I am hearing conflicting things. My baby’s pediatrician did not recommend it, because these formulas are new and not enough studies have been done on them (as opposed to Similac and Enfamil which have been around forever). But I’m also hearing from some people that it’s closer to breast milk and easier to digest for babies. Have any of you done any research on this and have a perspective to share? Many thanks!

My father loves me very much but he is probably also the most abusive person I know. Him pushing me has opened doors that otherwise would be closed, but it's also poisoned my life experience and left me without the skills to do basic things in the world, like build relationships and get along with people. Anyone switch companies while pregnant/trying to become pregnant and still able to take maternity? I have been waiting months for a DOD job to open up and was about to apply. Then I learned that in order to have paid leave (and any job protection), I’d have to work with the DOD a year first before going on leave. Add 6-9 months for background checks to the process and any hope of that job went right out the door for me as I’m currently in the process of doing IVF.

I am currently based in Vancouver Canada and my salary here is $101,000 CAD, with no yearly bonus but I do get share options and the company is not IPO yet.
Is a good salary for my experience? It is so expensive to live here, the money doesn’t go far and I have a 10 month old baby. Just wondering if I should start looking for a new job.

How would you handle the following: I received an offer at $120k with stock options in a venture funded company. I just found out they don’t cover any dependents on the insurance (though they do cover me the employee 100%), have no 401k matching, and not eligible for mat leave (90 days) until after working there for 1 year (this is important as we do want to have another child soon.

How would you account for the value of these not being part of the benefit package? What’s a reasonable ask?

My mother-in-law is in US with green card and has been in India past 5 months. She is coming back next week but has medical needs that would require her to stay longer (overall more than 9+ months).

I have an employee who has been out on Mat leave since beginning of October. She is scheduled to come back beginning of Jan. Today I received an email from our employee asking if she can work the following schedule for the month of Jan: two week 3 days on, two off and then another two 2 days on, 3 off. This is due to COVID and not wanting to put the child in daycare (which I totally get). Not being in a situation like this before, how do I respond?

When did vaccines and mandating them become so divisive and political? Most colleges (and some jobs) have always required proof of vaccination for MMR, HPV, etc well before Covid. Now everyone seems to be all up in arms for Covid vaccine and work mandating them. The science to make a vaccines isn’t new (which explains the speed) nor is the mandates to get vaccines. For the attorneys (or former attorneys) on this bowl- what are my chances of getting into a decent law school with a low GPA but high LSAT score? I’m looking to pivot and have been out of undergrad for 10+ years- end goal would be to join the military as a JAG, but I understand the available slots are few and highly competitive. I believe positioning myself by attending a top 20 school would increase my chances, but I need to first understand how realistic or unrealistic I’m being.
