Can I still get Marriott points and benefits if I don’t book directly with them? Like booking directly with Expedia or another 3rd party?

Usually not. You don’t even get points staying as part of a block booking.

No

Marriott is now usually one of the lower lrkces

I got one time exemption as I didnt know they don't honor bookings via 3rd party site for points, but I think that was more because the CS agent was generous.

No. However, some corporate booking portals allow you to get points and benefits if you select the right options. I had to figure out my concur and Egencia/Amex Travel to make sure I get my points and bennies!!!

Company wants me to travel to Austria for training/meetings/etc. I'm a US permanent resident. I applied for a Schengen business visa thru VFS in Miami. It's been pending with the Austrian consulate in DC for almost 2 months now because they said they need confirmation from the AMS in Austria if I need a work permit/work visa to be there. Both myself & the CEO of my company have tried contacting the AMS there multiple times with no response. Sort of stuck in limbo. Any advice?

Just got a salary increase to 122,000. I typically only contribute to a Roth 401k and not the traditional since I’d heard getting it taxed now is better in the long run. Should I diversify my contributions into both though? I feel like I may be missing opportunities by only contributing to the Roth. Thanks for any guidance!

Protip: If you're trying to get a referral/coffee chat at an obscure company or one that doesn't have a lot of Fishbowl user participation, you can "search" for the company name you're targeting, filter by "people," and now you see everyone on the app who works for that company. You can scroll down to the title most relevant to the position you're seeking, and cold message them for a referral. Just be extra polite, because you're reaching out to them, not the other way around. E.g., Starbucks:
