For a grandparents important birthday when their spouse recently died and your family doesn’t want them to be alone
you should take off. things are more important in life than working all the time. if they wont let you take one day off now as an intern - what does it mean about the culture when you start working full time?
Yes. U can
Yes interns can get a day off if needed. Is it possible that people will look down upon you asking if they don’t consider reason important? Yes. P
And you only need one day? I’d say go for it. Just don’t act like you’re entitled to it when you bring it up.
You can have all the days off you want cause your certainly won't be getting an offer!
What is it that came up?
I'm all about transparency. They need to get the real A1 experience while they're an intern.
It’s totally fine as long as you ask nicely.
In most cases, taking the day should be fine and your team will be 100% supportive. Not all days are created equal - day before release might be challenging, day towards the beginning of the project is obviously a lot easier. Key is to communicate with your team, present a plan for how the work will still get done and team won’t be impacted and let them know how important it is to you. If you were on my team, I’d help find a way to make it work.
If I wanted a Saturday off for a similar reason, just discuss it with who? Buddy, coach, partner, senior?
Yes, the fact of the matter is we do bend over backwards to try and give you all a good experience. This is an important family event. It is one day. Just let them know long in advance that this is happening and then ASK for the day, do not tell them you need it off. Asking is very important I really expect that it shouldn’t be an issue. It certainly wouldn’t be at EY
Get back to work. Someone needs to go pick up my coffee.
YES!!
Yes ask for it. I don’t think it would be a problem at all
You should discuss this with your team. You're not a helpless slave (although it might feel like it)
Taking one day off isn’t going to affect your offer.
