I’m not sure how much of it they can see, but they can definitely see how many hours you report each week. Definitely have had mine flagged before with LT highlighting what I had put in my report.
PLs don't see the commentary you add unless you've been flagged for burn (chose option d 'unsustainable', high hours, multiple weeks of high hours and option c). But they do see hours and which option you chose for the last 4 weeks. Timing of the report varies, but typically comes to managers sometime after Wednesday.
As a PL, I can say that when sustainability data are shared, we see your hours reported, how you characterize the hours and any additional detail you may provide. All discussions I’ve been part of around the reported hours have centered around concern and not disbelief as well as what levers can be pulled to alleviate the burn.
What’s typically shared are the hours reported across the different types of hours, answers to the protection extent if relevant and answers to the reflection on sustainability. There are a few situations when someone is “flagged”, like high hours, choosing unsustainable in the list, consistently choosing “more than preferred” over several weeks. And by flagging, I mean RL sends emails to the coach, PL and project LT to make them aware of the individual reporting poor sustainability. Following this, it’s usually a conversation between coach, PL and LT to diagnose the drivers and identify levers to resolve the situation. Does that help answer your question? Happy to answer more, or correspond via DM if helpful.
Did they express concern around the hours you worked or disbelief about the hours reported?
I have some guesses as to which of the leadership that was. Sorry you were in that boat. I would suggest filling out the PL feedback form for that leadership member. There has been a shift toward focus on team experience as part of how leadership are evaluated. If you share that feedback and the impact it had on the team, it will go to the coach and HR.
