Hi all! Do you ever discuss bonuses and annual raises during your end of year review in a large lockstep firm? Do you ever even get a chance to discuss your bonus directly or is it a discretionary decision which follows your end of year review, during which you highlight your achievements? I was told that the bonus structure cannot be shared and that it’s discretionary, but I also want to stop being shy and awkward when it comes to $$$ and ask for what I want and deserve
Can anyone provide insight to working at Holland and Hart? Also, when do parental leave benefits kick in? Is there a waiting period? Do they negotiate lateral bonuses for losing out on present firm end of year bonus? TIA.
Are there women here that have a significantly larger income than their male partner/ spouse? My husband used to make a little more money 10 years ago when we first met (when we were both making under 60k). Then I started climbing a fast track career ladder and now make a total comp of close to 300k and he is still under 80k... (which is totally fine with me btw). But I have noticed that this has caused a lot of serious issues for our relationship. any advice?
How is the Slalom Boston office? What are the opportunities and culture like? Do they do variable salary (less money on bench) and staff aug?
For those whose firms sponsor H1B at the analyst level - how common is this? My firm says they don’t do it until the MBA level because of “prevailing wage” issues, but the analyst comp differences aren’t that different that I know of. Appreciate any insights on this!

What’s a reasonable answer when a small, independent agency asks what your desired salary is? Info on Glassdoor is limited given they’re all smaller. For context, I’m a junior with just a little over a year of experience so v green. Thanks!

Having grown up in the lower middle class and not with much money family wise, I always thought one day when I made six figures I would have tons of money coming in, but lately I am discouraged with my “take home pay”. Combined my wife and I make about $275k, we max both our 401k accounts out and after all taxes, and other deductions we take home roughly $150k. Don’t get me wrong this is a great amount. I just always dreamed my take home would be more. Anyone else feel this way? We lose over 40%
I'd rather work from 6 am until midnight everyday than weekends... for my own sanity and mental health. Anyone else feel this?
To the folks that don’t want to get the vaccine, what is your reason? This seems like a strange hill to die on considering people losing their livelihood over this
So I just wrapped up an audit which pretty much brought an end to my busy season but now I have no work to do. I’ve reached out to my PML, my EM and other managers for work but they have nothing for me and have encouraged me to take PTO. I was planning on using my pto for later in March though so I don’t wanna use it just because I have no work. Any advice on what I should do?
Got an RFE but interview officer collected my passport and stated I don’t need to present any other forms nor come in again. Something about a formality while changing status from OPT to H1! Any exp?
Are consulting firms going to be hiring at the entry level as usual? Will it be more competitive? Looking to moving into consulting 1+ years experience out of undergrad

MBB - I’m a current senior graduating from a top public school, and I am debating on whether to accept an offer to a masters (non mba) to an Ivy League. One of the factors into my decision is what is the propensity that the resume gets pulled for on campus mbb recruiting, given that undergrads are probably applying as well? I have big brand internships already, and my undergrad school probably scores a 2/3 for brand name. Will recruiting teams put more emphasis on your latest or 1st degree?
What’s everyone’s long term outlook with living in the city? Lease finishes end of July and thinking of moving back closer to fam. Feel like COVID has flipped consulting and living in the city permanently with the move to wfh

I always thought it was strange that agencies rarely let candidates know the client until they are towards the end of the process. My position has way more job security than others simply because I work for a CPG client. Those in the same role on other accounts (e.g. airlines, hotels, fitness) have been furloughed or even laid off just because of the nature of the industry their client is in. Do we think agencies will have to be more transparent and let candidates ultimately chose the client?
Just realized the only reason I'm staying at my job is for the health insurance, which isn't even that good.
