Can someone explain private cloud vs on prem? Looking at articles online and honestly I can't tell the difference. Both seem like a client uses their own infrastructure.

On prem: there is a computer they own that is storing the information / running the things. Upkeep, stability, backups, upgrading, etc are all their reponsibility

In cloud: Someone else owns the computer that is storing the information / running the things. A subscription fee is paid that covers basically renting the hard drive space and processing power, and the host company is responsible for maintenance, uptime, upgrades, etc.

Occasionally for larger companies, they might have their own "cloud" which just means that the computers are in a different location and accessed over the internet instead of "on premise" in the same building & network

Private cloud can also mean resources dedicated to you, but are provided through a Public cloud provider (AWS, etc).

Normally, cloud services share the same underlying hardware with other accounts (in a secure way). With a private cloud, all of your activities are done on hardware that only your account has access to.

Note: It’s technically a Virtual Private Cloud, but many folks tend to drop the Virtual. Just be clear on the reference.

like

On Prem is typically used to describe any infrastructure that that is physically owned and managed by the company. It doesn’t have to sit at the same office as you, and could be a data center or other location.

like

Gotcha! So proivate cloud is essentially the cloud but the "vendor" is themselves since they operate and host all the infrastructure, just in a different location?

OP you’re describing colocation. Private cloud is when a client uses dedicated resources from a dedicated cloud provider which are not shared with other clients.

“On prem” can refer to literal on premise like what D1 described, or can refer to on prem, colocation and managed hosting in grouping

Fishes, I have a job title question. Does it matter if a role is in the same project with different titles? Example: SA, State and Local, Researcher vs SA, State and Local, Business Analyst. The job description makes it sound like they are the same project. However, Business Analyst does have more requirements/qualifications listed than Researcher. I’m coming from industry (3 YOE). Any insight is much appreciated! Thanks :)

This might be a long shot but I'm looking for a volunteer who is trying to break into a federal career. Maybe a transitioning veteran, recent grad, or career-changer.

I'm pursuing my master career coaching cert and need to do a recorded 45-minute session. You don't have to be identified if you don't want to.

The single session is all I'm asking but could certainly turn into a longer lasting coaching relationship (at no cost), if you like.

Nagarro interview process - I cleared the online test and L1 interview was also done. Its been more than a week. I was contacted by an agency recruiter. When I asked him for the feedback he said he will check and get back as he is not in the office right now. Don't know when he will get back. The nagarro HR is not giving any reply over email.

Just wanted to know is this going in the right way or am I rejected hence this much delay. Please suggest..
