Does big 4 all roughly pay the same?
The info above from my colleagues is right for some “experts” but not for all. We have now may expert paths. From traditional “knowledge” experts (which is what McK1 and 2 are talking about) through Turnaround, implementation, public/social sector, digital, design and other paths. In many of them salary and progression is comparable
US Specific info:Specialist, Expert and Sr Expert are “equivalent” to associate, engagement manager and associate partner. But the expert roles come with MUCH slower trajectory. Also, no AA for Sr Expert. Lot of times that is a terminal role and getting to partner is a long shot (some take 15+ years)
External hires at an expert level start with 15-20 years of industry experience. Sr Expert direct hires are rare but happen.
What is AA?
Thanks! Do you know the salary ranges for those positions? Especially with the large year gaps between levels I’d imagine they are wide ranges
The salary for expert path is lower than generalist path (70% or lower at ASC - 5 YOE minimum). Less travel. Shorter staffing (you do 2 weeks and team will cut you off). Hours are better. As pointed out, promotion is slower (double or more years than generalist) but it is less up or out. Exit option is miles worse than generalists (recruiters ignore them)
This sounds like the delivery model at Deloitte. How much is the compensation range? Any idea?
