You learn at a Significantly higher rate, can try different industries/types of projects (they say 1 yr of consulting experience = 3 years of industry experience) You can gain more general strategic thinking skills that can be applicable to a variety of situations ( depending on the type of consulting) Prestige / exit options Its a good path for those who arent sure “what they want to do when they grow up”

If being a PM is your end goal (or something closely related), then dont consult - just do your current role and become a PM. if you think you want to try diff industries/functions, consider consulting

Always working on something different or in different situational contexts

Deeply passionate ab slide decks

Why would I propose an alternative when I am deeply passionate ab slide decks?

Consulting is akin to being an entrepreneur. You're constantly innovating, selling, solving problems, building a personal brand name for yourself in the industry and have the chance of getting an equity stake if you reach partnership. Most industry jobs (at least in FS) don't offer that. You could be in a non-revenue generating role in industry (like Internal Audit) and become a rainmaker in consulting. That's why I ditched Industry and will never go back unless it's for a startup with a chunky LTIP in place. I'm much happier and have increased my TC by almost 70% since and I wasn't underpaid previously by any means.

Hi All, My sister has cleared all the rounds in Accenture. HR contacted her today to negotiate the salary. My sister asked for 8LPA FP. HR said the max fixed pay they could offer is 7.5LPA. My sister told she would think and get back in few minutes. Within 5 minutes, HR moved the candidature status to “on hold” due to budget constraints. None of the HRs are answering the calls. What can i expect? TIA I am feeling worse as i advised my sister to tell HR that she would get back. :(

There are no partners in USI, only MDs. How does the work and compensation differ between US partners and USI MDs? My guess is that there would be significantly lesser selling work and share of revenue but more fixed compensation and practice leadership work. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Got an offer from Accenture but they have mentioned only fixed pay and not the salary breakup which is very strange because I have not had any such experience with any other company. On asking the HR, she said there are no deductions from this fixed pay apart from PF and the salary breakup would be given to you on the day of joining. Is this strange or common?

Lately, a lot of recruiters have been reaching out. I'm mostly happy in my role and w/my company (no longer w/Edelman), but one job caught my eye with a huge salary and title bump at a comparable company, culture and work wise. Interviews are going well - I'm torn about leaving - things are good now but some extra $$ for what seems like a similar experience seems like a no-brainer. Yet, I feel sad about potentially leaving my current company. Anyone have a similar experience? What happened?

I was promised a promotion which never materialized. Pissed me off big time and I found a new position. Just put in my 2 weeks notice, which led to an emotional discussion with my boss. They’re upset that I’m leaving and apologized many times. I know the new position is way better for me in terms of compensation and career growth, and my new team is already communicating well with me. Super happy with them! But now feel bit guilty for leaving. Also feel stupid for feeling this way. What to do?

I had a really weird interview for Creative Director today. It’s a small startup. HR interviewed me and asked all the hard hitting questions (how do you get design inspiration, how do you deal with design roadblocks, what sets you apart for this role?) which I thought was odd for a screening interview. They made some affirmative noises then said the next step would be a design test (one pager) which I would present to a panel of interviewers including the CMO. Anyone else think this is odd?
