Not sure if it varies from state to state but in OK Voc/rehab helps students with things like drivers education, job training with pay while in hs then employment after graduation and I’ve seen some help find housing.

like

Yes. While in hs they will pay students to work on campus or off campus then help them transition into similar jobs after hs. I’ve had students work as custodians on campus, in flower shops doing whatever they are capable, pizza places, etc

I’ve got about 8.5 years and still struggle with dealing with friends who get drunk and are complete assholes. I know I should have empathy but I just want to kick their ass. What I should do is Thank God (agnostic) I am sober today. If I was drinking I would have kicked his ass, faced the consequences, made amends, and lost friend(s).

Having my weekly crisis here. I feel like I’ve ruined my career by doing insurance defense at the same firm for 8 years. I’ve been aggressively job hunting for six months in this state, I previously took the bar in another state and was job hunting there for over a year. I haven’t had anything come up. The only options seem to be the miserable sweatshop ID shops everyone says to steer clear from. Thinking about a career change to selling cars so I can make more money. Really having a meltdown

How do you deal with the stress of demanding clients, bosses, etc? I’m on a small team in a stretch role where I get multiple urgent asks from my Partner and clients each day, and never quite feel like I know what I’m doing. I know this is part of the learning process, but I get anxious hearing an outlook notification, and am constantly stressed that I’m not doing a good job

I just recently resigned my teaching position for a position in another state to be closer to family. I will be making a lot less money (about 1/2 as much). Am I crazy to give up a high paying teaching position that took me 12 years to get to on the pay scale or is being closer to my family worth the pay cut? Anybody ever found themselves in a similar situation? I gave up tenure too. Honestly, I wasn’t happy living in my home town making the most money I've made. I guess it’s a leap of faith!

Last Spring I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. When I was diagnosed, I think I had had it for several years. My doctor put me on a diabetes med (my A1C was 10.2 and my blood sugar was 270). I knew I didn’t want to deal with the adverse effects of this disease, so I made some drastic dietary changes, started exercising, and brought my blood sugar down. I am now back in the pre-diabetic range, and I got off my diabetes meds. I lost 40 lbs. and feel great! Take care of yourselves! It’s important

What are you reading over break for your own enjoyment? My favorite authors are Bill Bryson, Garrison Keilor, Jodi Picoult, and Maeve Binchy. My favorite book to come out this year was Where the Crawdads Sing.
