Can someone explain what WONGDOODY LA is after after the Infosys acquisition? Still an ad agency? Not sure what their deal is and unclear as to whether they actually have real clients.

I remember they came and spoke at my university forever ago and they had that “we’re shaking up the industry and we’re cutting edge and disrupting the norm” rhetoric that every “ACD who, frustrated by not getting promoted, left their ‘bloated big agency’ to start their own” seems to have? A very straight, male energy. It seemed all talk to me....

We have repositioned to what is called "Human Experience Company" now. Yes, I know, confusing -- when I was hired, it was right before this repositioning, so I was under the impression that I would be working at an ad agency. We still do lots of traditional ad work during this transitory period but we are ultimately the company is focusing on the intersection between UX and CX (HX). A lot of our clients are brought to us via Infosys connections, as we basically function like the creative arm of Infosys. But, at least for the time being, internal operations are just like any other ad agency (as far as I can tell). We have the same departments, we work the same way, etc. We do have real clients. I work in the Seattle office so can't totally say what is going on in the LA office, but we have T-Mobile, Amazon Web Services, Les Schwab Tires, Sound Credit Union, and SIFF out of the Seattle office. Those accounts are traditional advertising accounts (retail, OOH, digital, TV, etc. you know the drill), whereas I think our NYC office is the most focused on implementing this new HX thing. As far as the name, I think the founders wanted something named after them (makes sense!) and they happen to have silly names, but lots of ad agencies have out-there names (Walrus, Omelet, Strawberry Frog to name a few) and maybe we have an even funkier name -- but it definitely catches your attention (isn't that what an ad is supposed to do?) and I can vouch for the fact that clients don't seem to mind it. Amazon's most successful product launch in history is credited to Wongdoody (FireTV - Gary Busey), and our lead client on Les Schwab is a devout Mormon. So, I think many people are able to look past it, or may even think it's cool! Just my two cents.

Yup! Tracy still looks at everything we pitch and has the final say on what work we show.

No clue, but ive always wondered how anyone takes them seriously. O matter how good the work is, how is a CMO supposed to tell his CEO and board they should give millions of dollars to a company called WONGDOODY? Sounds like it’s run by a bunch of third grade boys.

We've rebranded ourself as a “Human Experience agency.” Most of the employees still don’t exactly know what that means haha. We are basically all project based now because we can be due to Infosys. We still have a traditional advertising side with WONGDOODY clients, but we also have Infosys clients which fall (usually) under our digital side with our digital team. The L.A. creative team is still super small (9 people), but because of that, the culture is unbeatable.

Any Law folks willing to help. My company just rolled out a COVID Survey and indicated the following clause. The completion of the US COVID-19 Vaccination Status Survey is a baseline requirement to be fully eligible for year-end rewards that you would otherwise receive. Failure to fulfill this requirement will result in a 10% decrease to any base pay increase and to any variable pay award (where applicable), submitted for you as part of year-end reward decisions.

So I received an offer that is +45k putting my total salary at 170 as a senior and I tried counter offering but my partner said to me that money will always be there but that I can’t buy connections and growth. Just a shout out at the diversity I have been seeing while on-line shopping. It is something I am really happy to see. The various skin colors, hair types and body sizes are refreshing! Finally, I see people that look like ME! There are still some aspects that I am trying to fully embrace because for too long I was feed the lie of what the "desirable" body or hair type was. BUT I am changing and I am glad my children will not go through that brainwashing.
