Can someone from PwC please explain to me what the Acceleration Center is? Saw a Senior Position in my area (Risk Assurance) but it’s specifically for the Acceleration Center

You need to be able to run 5x faster than everyone else to work there. They'll test you during the interview.

So besides the current PTO crisis, is there any real substantive difference between the big 4 firms?

It’s basically our outsourcing/off-shoring group. Teams in Tampa, Argentina, and India

They’ll screw up and give you something unintelligible, we’ll have to spend an hour explaining what they did wrong, for them to screw up once more. You make damn sure you don’t ever involve them anymore, but their names keep appearing on the same code month after month, because they keep “accidentally” charge the same code by mistake. Quite an experience

The acceleration center is where the engagement team sends work to be done. Usually the very repetitive work that no one wants to do

Thank you for your input. Thats sucks. I feared it was something like that. I guess the name made it sound more exciting

You can always transfer out once you accept the job to external audit.

Also, call it GDM (pronounced GADUM). Love how they tried to rebrand it to a shiny new “AC” to get rid of the stigma of how shoddy the work is. Turns out you can put a dress on a pig, it’s still a pig.

Fast forward to the past year, w AC 2.0 Model. You have ppl leaving left and right. They want us more aligned with the practice office, including owning controls start to finish. So, good in the sense of experience i guess. This year I’ve gotten to lead walkthroughs and it essentially only me and another senior on the engagement team running our whole Soc 1 report, with some occasional help from their manager. That being said, the pay is not worth the hours

This is the candid T I needed. Thank you

Been at the Tampa AC (formerly SDC) for 4 years. Summary of first 2.5 years: very chill environment, flexible w/ taking time off, lower pay, easy work. You pick up the “tedious” work engagement teams send based on your teams capacity, try and get it done within their budget & put it through an AC-level review before it goes back to the engagement team. If you were OOO or sick or something, someone else from your team who has capacity can easily pick up the work. A pretty great place to work if you’re looking for work/life balance...

Have met with 5 people for two different teams and another person for another team, all of which I believe are 3 total open positions for 3 different teams. Senior up for promo to manager in audit in next year. Have decided I do not want to be an auditor. Which of these paths do you think is best? 1. Stay 1 more year, exit to industry with manager title. 2. Move to advisory internally, but most likely would have to do one more year in audit and move as audit manager to advisory sr 3. Exit immediately into industry to try for accounting manager title / senior accountant or sr fin analyst 4. Exit immediately to advisory senior at another big 4 firm
