Can someone help rate the pros/cons of living in Tribeca, West Village, FiDi, Greenwich? Moving to NYC soon and currently looking at apts.

Tribeca pros: lots of super nice loft buildings and a handful of trendy restaurants and near West Side highway park area for walking/biking/hanging out. Close to West Village and Chinatown.

Tribeca cons: can feel a little isolated and quiet depending on where you are. Being near Holland tunnel traffic can be terrible.

West Village pros: generally considered one of the nicest hoods in all of NYC for mix of food/bar scene, bustling areas and quiet tree lined street areas, also near West Side highway park. Close to soho. This would be my personal first choice for a hood if money wasn’t an issue.

W Village cons: expensive for sq footage, some people might consider the hood to be a little too professional clean white collar for their tastes. Living on one of the Avenues would be pretty loud and annoying. And a few other side streets with restaurants and bars might be a little hectic, too.

Greenwich pros: Washington Square Park is awesome. Plus very central location in general and convenient if you’re traveling on east side or west side. Close to soho and west village and east village and Union square.

Greenwich cons: can feel very young and NYU studenty in basically the entire hood, with a few streets, like Macdougal street, feeling very very loud and collegy.

FiDi pros: daytime during week has lots of hustle energy. Near south seaport area which is nice to walk around. Close to Tribeca and Chinatown. BrooklynBridge is right there for a beautiful walk. Oculus shopping plaza is nice. Fulton Street subway stop connects a lot of train lines. Some nice modern apartment buildings.

FiDi cons: can get pretty dead at night, enhanced by being surrounded by a lot of tall business buildings depending on location. Can also be pretty touristy in general. Also the furthest south hood, it can feel far removed from other parts of Manhattan depending on where you hang out. Personally this is my last choice hood out of the four.

Agree with CD1. Personally, I love everything on the west side and run along the Hudson River Park. Can’t go wrong with WV, Chelsea, Hudson Yards, Hell’s Kitchen, and UWS - really depends what kind of vibe you’re going for and where you’ll be spending most of your time.

I’m in Hudson Yards and spend a lot of time in Chelsea or Hell’s Kitchen - both have lots of bars and restaurants. A little more neighborhoody for both and have a range of housing options from the lux buildings to prewar buildings. Hudson Yards is still very much getting built up, but I’ve been here for 2.5 years and it’s nice as things start opening up more.

I recommend Greenwich village!

I love everything on the west side too. I previously lived in Flatiron / Chelsea and more recently moved to a bigger place in Battery Park City on the waterfront which I really like given the current situation.

I’m moving back to the UK at the beginning of April and looking to sublet my apartment. I’m offering one month rent free and the lease currently run through to September but there would be the option to extend. The net effective rent is $2,675 per month / gross rent $3,210 per month.

It’s a a really spacious place in a doorman building with full suite of amenities. Let me know if you’re interested

Hi, I’m new here! I am starting a business as a parenting coach. It has been suggested to me to reach out to big companies to see if they offer internal employee benefits or learning and development training. The idea being they have a bigger budget than a single family. I have been a stay at home mom for 15 years and I’m out of the business loop. How do I find the right person in the “big company” to email/cold call? Just tying cold call makes me nauseous.🙃

How do I negotiate a job offer?? Received the offer a couple days ago and I’m looking for them to go up about $10-15k on a mid 300s offer, so nothing too major. They know I have a competing offer as well.

Was about to give notice…but then they promoted me. Got a new gig, more money, better company. Been at my current employer for 5+ years and told them about 6 months ago they needed to promote me before they hired additional attorneys so I would be at the same title. It was a few months of promises and “we’ll see what we can do”/ “not sure if it will be before EOY or next feb at bonus time”. So I took calls from recruiters. Shit is crazy here - how do I tell them I’m out?

I know this is technically not NYC, but there's a good chance a few of y'all are going to the hamptons this weekend.

It'll be my first time going and I'll be going Sunday and Monday. I'll be going with a few friends. We're all 24 (3M, 2F) and are looking for a vibrant scene that has a mix of meeting new people and good music.

I did some searching online and saw Ruschmeyers was a pretty good spot. But wanted to hear from the bowl and see if they have any good recs for us while we're out there?

Hi it’s me again. Turned out the elephant upstairs actually has carpet. Wow. Idk what else I can do. I will have to live with it.

Hi! Subletting my room in a 2 bedroom apartment in Midtown west for December and January. Fully furnished, including a great WFH setup (standing desk, ergonomic chair, screen). Subletting it for only $1,300 a month. My roommate is a friend from college and we have been living together in that apartment for 4 years —positive signal on both the apartment and te roommate :)
DM if interested! Happy to share pics and more details
