The goal is to get promoted every 4 years so your cliff is minimal. Refreshers usually make up for any cliff one year after a promotion
the only real reason to work for a FAANG company is the ego boost that comes from being able to say you've worked there. Besides, for those who live in silicon valley, they're actually making effectively less than almost anywhere else because cost of living is so high.
I make 225+ an hour ...and have a great wlb and dont live anywhere expensive.
Location comes into play....but living somewhere expensive isnt required
Also....the scale that faang works at is rare which leads to the opportunity to solve new and unique problems
Refreshers. if you can’t prevent cliff through performance related benefits, hop to new company for another 4 years.
