Manager -> Senior manager -> associate director -> director -> senior/executive director -> VP is generally the structure
I agree with this hierarchy. Some groups may have less roles, for example my group doesn’t have senior manager but in general should be the same.
I don't know about AZ specifically but usually in pharma managers don't actually manage anyone and tend to be entry level positions.
Yeah I worked at AZ and in marketing, access strategy, etc. manager is usually at the bottom of the hierarchy. Ms and SMs (and sometimes ADs) under a D, a few Ds under an SD, and so on
Manager is the entry level position for post-grad folks in most of pharma. If you have an MBA, PhD or something like that, you should get at least manager right out of school.
With today's market, I am offer people with 12-18m consulting experience senior manager roles (even if they don't have a good grade degree)
Some places also have associate manager - which is entry level for people w grad degrees (or rotational programs)
