I actually boomeranged back into public after less than a year. Didn’t like the month end closings and repetitive work so I still wasn’t happy and fulfilled. I’m actually planning to leave accounting/finance altogether and go back to school for nursing as it’s been something I’ve been thinking about for a few years.

I wanted to flag so others can know, I live in mcol and I just received an offer for 120k base and a 15k signing bonus. I have three years of experience. Daddy D is throwing around some pretty crazy referral bonuses right now. If I can hit four referrals, I’ll split evenly among all four + myself. Up to $10k per person and at least $2.5k per person. Put it in escrow and everything. So if you’re looking to change firms, a new opportunity, etc. DM me. Can easily negotiate a nice sign on bonus, and my offer should sweeten the pot.

Signing bonus Q - has anybody had to pay a signing bonus back because of leaving less than the time stipulated in the offer? What was the mechanism for the company to claim the bonus - take it from your last pay stub/PTO balance/can they request a check if you don’t have a remaining ‘Accounts Payable’ balance with the company? Wondering if this is an empty threat.

Asking for my spouse. She is five months pregnant and has a amazon offer. She works for Deloitte too. Deloitte definitely has a better maternity leave but amazon is doubling her take home salary. Also agreed to work from home for two years. Thoughts? Stress wise her Deloitte practice ( strategy) is probably as stressful or more as compared to amazon role so it literally boils down to maternity benefits for us.

Everyone should openly share their salaries/wages with anyone who wants to know. It only helps other workers and is only bad for companies. Biggest company propaganda was getting the general public to think that’s it’s inappropriate to have salary transparency.

I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
